Goldman Sachs ‘Whistleblower’ Carmen Segarra Sues NY Fed For Wrongful Termination

Carmen Segarra outside the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, on Oct. 10, 2013. In a wrongful termination lawsuit, Segarra says she was fired by the Fed after she refused to change a finding Goldman Sachs had inadequate controls over conflicts of interest.

Goldman “Whistleblower” Sues NY Fed For Wrongful Termination (ZeroHedge, Oct 10, 2013):

After seven months of investigating Goldman Sachs’ legal and compliance divisions, former NYFed examiner Carmen Segarra found numerous conflicts of interest and breach of client ethics (specifically related to three transactions – Solyndra, Capmark, and the El Paso / Kinder Morgan deal) that she believed warranted a downgrade of Goldman’s regulatory rating. Her bosses were not happy, concerned that this action would hurt Goldman’s ability to do business, and, she alleges, they urged her to change her position. She refused, and as Reuters reports, she was fired and escorted from the building. “I was just documenting what Goldman was doing,” she said. “If I was not able to push through something that obvious, the [NY Fed] certainly won’t be capable of supervising banks when even more serious issues arise.”

Via Reuters,

A former senior bank examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York filed a wrongful termination lawsuit on Thursday, saying she was fired after refusing to alter a critical examination of Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

Book By Whistleblower At Center Of ‘Fast And Furious’ Blocked By The ATF

Book by whistleblower at center of ‘Fast and Furious’ blocked by the ATF (RT, Oct 8, 2013):

A book authored by an agent at the center of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ “Fast and Furious” gun running debacle has been rejected and barred from being published by the agency, citing concerns for morale.

Special Agent John Dodson, who became a whistleblower in 2011 when he approached Republican lawmakers in Congress with details of a botched attempt by the ATF to allow sales of firearms in order to build a case against Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa cartel, has already penned a book on the saga, though it was unclear on Monday whether it will ever see the light of day.

“This would have a negative impact on morale in the Phoenix [field division] and would have a detremental [sic] effect on our relationships with [the Drug Enforcement Administration] and FBI,” the ATF’s rejection letter stated.

Current restrictions prevent federal employees from profiting from “any source other than the government for teaching, speaking or writing that relates to the employee’s official duties,” ruling out the possibility for Dodson to cash in on any book deal.

Veteran New York Times Reporter: ‘This Is Most Closed, Control-Freak Administration I’ve Ever Covered’

Veteran New York Times Reporter: “This Is Most Closed, Control-Freak Administration I’ve Ever Covered” (ZeroHedge, Oct 6, 2013):

American constitutional experts say that Obama is worse than Nixon.

The government has taken to protecting criminal wrongdoing by attacking whistleblowers … and any  journalists who have the nerve to report on the beans spilled by the whistleblowers.  (The government has also repealed long-standing laws against using propaganda against Americans on U.S. soil, and the government is manipulating social media – more proof here and here).

The Obama administration has prosecuted more whistleblowers than all other presidents combined.

And it goes out of its way to smear whistleblowers, threaten reporters who discuss whistleblower information and harass honest analysts.

Journalism is not only being criminalized in America, but investigative reporting is actually treated like terrorism.

The government admits that journalists could be targeted with counter-terrorism laws (and here). For example, after Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges, journalist Naomi Wolf, Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg and others sued the government to enjoin the NDAA’s allowance of the indefinite detention of Americans – the judge asked the government attorneys 5 times whether journalists like Hedges could be indefinitely detained simply for interviewing and then writing about bad guys. The government refused to promise that journalists like Hedges won’t be thrown in a dungeon for the rest of their lives without any right to talk to a judge

Karen Hudes: We’re Running Out of Time! We’re Dealing with Whether We Can Continue as Humanity

World Bank Whistleblower Karen Hudes Reveals How The Global Elite Rule The World (Economic Collapse, Sep 30, 2013):

Karen Hudes is a graduate of Yale Law School and she worked in the legal department of the World Bank for more than 20 years.  In fact, when she was fired for blowing the whistle on corruption inside the World Bank, she held the position of Senior Counsel.  She was in a unique position to see exactly how the global elite rule the world, and the information that she is now revealing to the public is absolutely stunning.  According to Hudes, the elite use a very tight core of financial institutions and mega-corporations to dominate the planet.  The goal is control.  They want all of us enslaved to debt, they want all of our governments enslaved to debt, and they want all of our politicians addicted to the huge financial contributions that they funnel into their campaigns.  Since the elite also own all of the big media companies, the mainstream media never lets us in on the secret that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way that our system works.Remember, this is not some “conspiracy theorist” that is saying these things.  This is a Yale-educated attorney that worked inside the World Bank for more than two decades.  The following summary of her credentials comes directly from her website:

Judge Casts Doubt On Damage Caused By Whistleblower Bradley Manning’s US Secret Data Leaks

Judge casts doubt on damage caused by whistleblower Bradley Manning’s US secret data leaks (Independent, Aug 8, 2013):

A military judge has cast doubt on the scale of damage inflicted by Bradley Manning’s leaks of classified information, ruling that some US government evidence was inadmissible.

As she prepared to sentence Bradley Manning for passing secret information to the whistleblowing website WikiLeaks, Judge Denise Lind said she would only admit evidence of the “chilling effects” his actions have had on US diplomacy if those effects were observed directly after the information was made public.

Obama’s Abuse Of The Espionage Act Is Modern-Day McCarthyism

Shame on this president for persecuting whistleblowers with a legal relic, while administration officials leak with impunity

Obama’s abuse of the Espionage Act is modern-day McCarthyism (Guardian, Aug 5, 2013):

The conviction of Bradley Manning under the 1917 Espionage Act, and the US Justice Department’s decision to file espionage charges against NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden under the same act, are yet further examples of the Obama administration‘s policy of using an iron fist against human rights and civil liberties activists.

President Obama has been unprecedented in his use of the Espionage Act to prosecute those whose whistleblowing he wants to curtail. The purpose of an Espionage Act prosecution, however, is not to punish a person for spying for the enemy, selling secrets for personal gain, or trying to undermine our way of life. It is to ruin the whistleblower personally, professionally and financially. It is meant to send a message to anybody else considering speaking truth to power: challenge us and we will destroy you.

Only ten people in American history have been charged with espionage for leaking classified information, seven of them under Barack Obama. The effect of the charge on a person’s life – being viewed as a traitor, being shunned by family and friends, incurring massive legal bills – is all a part of the plan to force the whistleblower into personal ruin, to weaken him to the point where he will plead guilty to just about anything to make the case go away. I know. The three espionage charges against me made me one of “the Obama Seven”.

Snowden Thanks Russia For Asylum, Says ‘Law Is Winning’

Snowden thanks Russia for asylum, says ‘law is winning’ (USA Today, Aug 1, 2013):

A lawyer for the former NSA analyst says he has “no plans” to go to another country.

MOSCOW — National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden thanked Russia for granting him temporary asylum Thursday and said “in the end the law is winning.

The former defense contractor left the transit zone of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport where he has been holed up since June 23, and went by taxi to an undisclosed location.

“Over the past eight weeks we have seen the Obama administration show no respect for international or domestic law, but in the end the law is winning,” Snowden said in a statement issued by WikiLeaks. “I thank the Russian federation for granting me asylum in accordance with its laws and international obligations.”

Anatoly Kucherena, Snowden’s legal representative, told RT, a Russian television network, that the papers issued by the Russian Immigration Service allow him to live, work and travel in Russia for a year and can be renewed annually.

Bradley Manning Leak Did Not Result In Deaths By Enemy Forces, Court Hears

Bradley Manning leak did not result in deaths by enemy forces, court hears (Guardian, Aug 1, 2013):

Counter-intelligence officer who investigated WikiLeaks impact undermines argument that Manning leak put lives at risk

The US counter-intelligence official who led the Pentagon’s review into the fallout from the WikiLeaks disclosures of state secrets told the Bradley Manning sentencing hearing on Wednesday that no instances were ever found of any individual killed by enemy forces as a result of having been named in the releases.

Brigadier general Robert Carr, a senior counter-intelligence officer who headed the Information Review Task Force that investigated the impact of WikiLeaks disclosures on behalf of the Defense Department, told a court at Fort Meade, Maryland, that they had uncovered no specific examples of anyone who had lost his or her life in reprisals that followed the publication of the disclosures on the internet. “I don’t have a specific example,” he said.

It has been one of the main criticisms of the WikiLeaks publications that they put lives at risk, particularly in Iran and Afghanistan. The admission by the Pentagon’s chief investigator into the fallout from WikiLeaks that no such casualties were identified marks a significant undermining of such arguments.

U.S. Blasts Russian Asylum For Snowden

Furious White House Blasts Russian Asylum For Snowden (ZeroHedge, Aug 1, 2013):

The U.S. is “extremely disappointed” in the move by Russia to grant ‘temporary asylum’ to Edward Snowden, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters this morning. Carney appeared to add a threat, as the WSJ reports, he added that the Russian decision undermines law-enforcement cooperation between Moscow and Washington. Russia’s decision also threatens to derail a planned September summit in Moscow between Obama and Putin (oh to be a fly on that wall), as Carney advised “we are evaluating the utility of a summit in light of this.” Snowden’s earlier comments that “over the past eight weeks we have seen the Obama administration show no respect for international or domestic law, but in the end the law is winning,” did not help, adding that he thanks “the Russian Federation for granting  asylum in accordance with its laws and international obligations.” US politicians see it a little differently, U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-A.Z.) called the move “a disgrace and a deliberate effort to embarrass the United States.” Seems they are managing that all on their own.Via WSJ,

Kremlin: Russia Won’t Extradite Snowden To US

Russia won’t extradite Snowden to US – Kremlin (RT, July 26, 2013):

Moscow says security agency FSB is in talks with the FBI over Snowden. But the whistleblower will not be extradited to the US, a Kremlin spokesman said, adding he’s sure the fugitive NSA contractor will stop harming Washington if granted asylum in Russia.

Russia has never extradited anyone, and will not extradite,” said Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Russian President is not handling the case of the former CIA employee Edward Snowden, as “Snowden has not made any request that is subject to consideration by the head of the state,” Peskov added.

The issue of Snowden asking for temporary asylum “was not and is not on Putin’s agenda,” Peskov continued, saying that it lies in the sphere of the countries’ security agencies.

House Narrowly Rejects Proposal To End NSA Surveillance In 205-217 Vote

House Narrowly Rejects Proposal To End NSA Surveillance In 205-217 Vote (ZeroHedge, July 24, 2013)

Moments ago, an unlikely grouping between a 33-year old Republican, Rep-Justin Amash, and an 84-year old Democrat, Rep-John Conyers, resulted in a House vote, that if passed, would have suspended the NSA’s “indiscriminate collection of phone records” and effectively ended the program’s statutory authority. Yet despite significant lobbying by the White House, security experts and representative on both sides of the aisle, the vote came within a startlingly close 12 votes of passage. A majority of Democrats, 111, voted for Amash’s amendment despite the full court press while 83 Democrats voted no. The GOP vote was 94-134. That the vote did not pass is not surprising. However, that it came to just 12 votes of passage is the stunning development and shows a sea change of how Congress approaches both personal privacy and the broader implications of the Patriot Act. All of it thanks to the action of one man who at last check was still stuck in the transit terminal in Moscow.

From The Hill:

Wednesday’s vote came after the White House and lawmakers who support the NSA’s surveillance activities launched a major offensive against Amash’s measure after it was granted a vote Monday evening.

Snowden’s Lawyer Says He Plans To Settle And Work In Russia (RT Video)

Snowden plans to settle and work in Russia – lawyer to RT (RT, July 23, 2013):

NSA leaker Edward Snowden plans to settle in Russia and is ready to begin a court battle if the country’s migration service denies his asylum plea, Anatoly Kucherena, a Russian lawyer who assists the whistleblower, told RT.

“It’s hard for me to say what his actions would be in terms of a positive decision [on the asylum plea],” Kucherena said. “We must understand that security is the number one issue in his case. I think the process of adaptation will take some time. It’s an understandable process as he doesn’t know the Russian language, our customs, and our laws.”

“He’s planning to arrange his life here. He plans to get a job. And, I think, that all his further decisions will be made considering the situation he found himself in,” he added.

Kucherena expressed hope that the whistleblower’s plea will be granted, because the reasons which prompted Snowden ask for political asylum in Russia “deserve attention.”

“He fears for his health and his life. He’s afraid that if he’ll be handed to the US, torture can be used against him down to death penalty,” he said.

‘US Citizen Has No Right To Free Speech?’ State Dept Spokesperson Grilled Over Snowden (Video)

“… accorded a fair trial.”

Oh, sure!

YouTube Added: 16.07.2013

Description:

Tensions are high as NSA leaker Edward Snowden officially submitted application for temporary asylum in Russia on Tuesday. After Russian and international human rights advocates and lawyers met with Snowden at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on Friday, the US said it was disappointed in Russia for considering the whistleblowers asylum. During a daily press briefing State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki was given a thorough grilling on the Snowden affair by journalists, including AP’s Matthew Lee and CNN’s Elise Labott and was left lost for words at almost every turn.

‘Obama Has Already Convicted Snowden’

‘Obama has already convicted Snowden’ (PressTV, July 14, 2013):

American whistleblower Edward Snowden’s chances for a fair trial in the U.S. are “virtually zero” as he has “already been convicted in the media by President Obama”, says James Petras, a retired Bartle Professor of Sociology at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York, and author of 65 books.

At a meeting in the transit area of Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow on Friday, Snowden told human rights advocates that the U.S. government has placed him on no-fly lists and threatened sanctions against countries that “would stand up for my human rights and the UN asylum system.”

Germany’s Humiliating Takedown Of The Coopted, Corrupt, Complicit, Corporate US Media

Germany’s Humiliating Takedown Of The Coopted, Corrupt, Complicit, Corporate US Media (ZeroHedge, July 15, 2013):

As the mainstream American press goes after NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald, Germany’s Spiegel note that the leakers’ revelations appear to becoming an afterthought.

Via Der Spiegel,

Walter Pincus, 80, knows his way around a scandal. The columnist and former reporter at the Washington Post has written about Watergate and the Iran-Contra scandal, numerous intelligence-related affairs and has won the Pulitzer Prize. But he has been criticized, even by his colleagues, for being too close to the US government — especially the CIA, for which he spied in his younger years.

But now, Pincus has truly embarrassed himself: Last week the Washington Post had to add a three-paragraph-long correction to a two-day-old Pincus column, invalidating its core claims. This was an unprecedented measure in the 136-year history of the American capital’s most lauded newspaper.

Pincus had speculated that whistleblower Edward Snowden, as well as the two people centrally responsible for publicizing the NSA revelations, Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald and documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras, had a political agenda and were surreptitiously “directed” by Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Pincus’ “evidence” turned out to be demonstrably false, rendering the “corrected” column — or what was left of it — little more than malicious gossip.

Greenwald, who has been caught in the US media crossfire for some time, immediately protested against the “baseless innuendo” in an open letter. The Washington Post waited over 48 hours before correcting their blunder without comment.

‘Pilot X’: San Francisco Jetliner Crash Caused By Airlines Turning Pilots Into ‘Computer Geeks Who Can’t Fly’

Exclusive: San Francisco jetliner crash caused by airlines turning pilots into ‘computer geeks who can’t fly’ says commercial pilot (Natural News, July 10, 2013):

When flight 214 crashed last week at the San Francisco airport, killing two people and injuring dozens, many people were in a state of disbelief. How could a Boeing 777 — the “Titanic” of commercial airliners — be piloted so carelessly that the pilot seemingly flew it into the seawall and caused the accident?

But that’s the problem, you see: There are no more pilots flying these planes. The real pilots have nearly all retired, leaving a bunch of “computer geeks” who have almost no flying skills and only know how to operate the computerized, automated flight equipment which is subject to catastrophic failure.

That’s what “Pilot X” told me in a phone interview. His identity is being secret for his own protection, but he recently retired from over two decades of flying Boeing’s largest aircraft for major U.S. airlines. He has received more actual flight time than 99% of today’s active commercial pilots, and he’s an expert in Boeing flight automation equipment. His testimony, below, reveals insider details that only a real commercial pilot would know.

Airlines are trying to dumb down the pilots

Now That Is Totally Disgusting: Golden Corral (Shocking Photos And Video)

Shocking photos and video shows Golden Corral more disgusting than a cow feedlot (Natural News, July 9, 2013):

Shocking photos posted on the internet claim to show behind-the-scenes filth at a Golden Corral restaurant. The photos appear to show filthy dishes stacked nearly head-high, with food waste littering the floor right next to beverage service carts. Three employees are clearly depicted in the photos, and they appear to be wearing uniforms consistent with those worn by Golden Corral employees.

The photos (see below) also show overflowing trash cans and food refuse so thick that employees are walking all over it while mountains of filthy dishes appear to be ready to collapse onto the floor.

All photos are shown below.

Adding to the apparent filth, a young man who claims to be a Golden Corral employee has posted a shocking video that he says shows Golden Corral hiding fresh meat near dumpsters while the restaurant undergoes an inspection. Once the inspection is over, he explains, the food will be carted back into the restaurant and served up to hungry customers (but without all the flies).

Below, take a look at some of the shocking photos from the dishes area. All the bolded comments are my own…

Hey, do I get free Obamacare with this job?

And to think, this was just the appetizer round!

Everybody FREEZE! Or this whole thing may collapse and we’ll have to excavate our way out!

Golden Corral name badges

By the way, how do we know these are Golden Corral employees and not people working at some random restaurant? The name badge and uniforms give it away.

Take a look at this P.R. announcement of Golden Corral bringing jobs to Springfield, MA. Here, you can clearly see the Golden Corral logo and name tag on these black aprons which are part of the Golden Corral uniform.

Now take a look at a zoomed-in image of the black apron and name tag from the “dirty dishes” photo shown above:

See the shocking video: Baby back “dumpster” ribs!

Hungry for some “dumpster ribs?” A man named Brandon Huber posted a jaw-dropping video a few days ago which has already garnered over one million views. Edward Snowden Is A Whistleblower, Not A Spy

Edward Snowden is a whistleblower, not a spy – but do our leaders care? (Guardian, July 5, 2013):

According to US legislators and journalists, the surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden actively aided America’s enemies. They are just missing one essential element for the meme to take flight: evidence.

An op-ed by Representative Mike Pompeo (Republican, Kansas) proclaiming Snowden, who provided disclosed widespread surveillance on phone records and internet communications by the National Security Agency, “not a whistleblower” is indicative of the emerging narrative. Writing in the Wichita Eagle on 30 June Pompeo, a member of the House intelligence committee, wrote that Snowden “has provided intelligence to America’s adversaries“.

Airplane Of Bolivian President Denied Passage Over French, Portuguese Airspace Due To Snowden Suspicions

Airplane Of Bolivian President Denied Passage Over French, Portuguese Airspace Due To Snowden Suspicions (ZeroHedge, July 2, 2013):

Moments ago a rather surreal episode of international diplomacy, or rather lack thereof, took place when the airplane of Bolivian President Evo Morales was forced to land in Austria over suspicions that NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden was on board, a claim Bolivian authorities denied. The reason: France and Portugal reportedly refused to allow the flight to cross their airspace due to concerns that Snowden may have been aboard the plane. It is what international law allows countries to deny their airspace to presidents of sovereign countries, when the only transgression is unproven speculation of harboring a whistleblower. Of course, with both insolvent countries bent over and in dire need of some all too precious Uncle Sam liquidity, we can see how they would do anything and everything to gain some favor with Obama.Per RT, David Choquehuanca, the Bolivian Foregin Minister, refuted the idea Snowden was on the plane, saying “we don’t know who invited this lie, but we want to denounce to the international community this injustice with the plane of President Evo Morales.”

Others in South America are also angry, with Ecuador foreign affairs minister Ricardo Patino taking the lead:

Department of Defense Blocks Millions of Computers From Viewing Alternative News

DoD Blocks Millions of Computers From Viewing Alternative News (Activist Post, June 29, 2013):

After the initial surge of web traffic to alternative news websites following The Guardian breaking the NSA spying story, traffic has slowed considerably despite the continued interest in the NSA story as well as other alternative headlines.

This dramatic drop in traffic may be due to broad censorship by the Department of Defense on “millions of computers”.

What began as a rumor that the military brass was ordering soldiers not to view news about the whistleblower revelations that the NSA is spying on all Americans has swelled into a confirmed military-wide censorship campaign using a high-tech computer filtering system.

The US News and World Report is reporting that the DoD is blocking access to all articles related to the NSA scandal from all DoD computers. The filter reportedly effects millions of computers and potentially thousands of alternative news and civil liberties websites.

President Barack Obama’s Unprecedented Initiative, Known As … The Insider Threat Program

‘Truth is treason in the empire of lies’
‘Let the revolution begin!’
– Ron Paul

Obama’s crackdown views leaks as aiding enemies of U.S. (McClatchy, June 20,  2013):

WASHINGTON — Even before a former U.S. intelligence contractor exposed the secret collection of Americans’ phone records, the Obama administration was pressing a government-wide crackdown on security threats that requires federal employees to keep closer tabs on their co-workers and exhorts managers to punish those who fail to report their suspicions.

President Barack Obama’s unprecedented initiative, known as the Insider Threat Program, is sweeping in its reach. It has received scant public attention even though it extends beyond the U.S. national security bureaucracies to most federal departments and agencies nationwide, including the Peace Corps, the Social Security Administration and the Education and Agriculture departments. It emphasizes leaks of classified material, but catchall definitions of “insider threat” give agencies latitude to pursue and penalize a range of other conduct.

Government documents reviewed by McClatchy illustrate how some agencies are using that latitude to pursue unauthorized disclosures of any information, not just classified material. They also show how millions of federal employees and contractors must watch for “high-risk persons or behaviors” among co-workers and could face penalties, including criminal charges, for failing to report them. Leaks to the media are equated with espionage.

“Hammer this fact home . . . leaking is tantamount to aiding the enemies of the United States,” says a June 1, 2012, Defense Department strategy for the program that was obtained by McClatchy.
