Ukraine Bank Runs Begin As Poroshenko Plans To Sever Socio-Economic Ties With Separatist-Held Regions (ZeroHedge, Nov 16, 2014):

In what the pro-Russian separatists call “an act of genocide,” Ukraine’s President Poroshenko signed a decree Friday that will explicitly withdraw state support for the regions within a month. While appearing to implicitly recognize the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as autonomous, the decree means that the central bank will no longer service bank accounts, prisoners will be transferred (inmates with minor offences will be released), and perhaps most troubling as the cold winter begins, the order covers all public services, including crucial ones, such as schools, hospitals, and emergency services; and local heating and power plants will be subject to new laws that could involve cutting energy supplies altogether to the plants that don’t pay. Luhansk’s leader exclaimed, “the total socio-economic blockade of Donbass is de facto an act on genocide and devastation of our people,” and as the images below show, bank runs have already begun across the region with long lines forming at ATMs. Continue reading »

Officially begun the state-of-the-art ‘humanitarian aid’ deliveries have.

Russia Announces It Will Send “Humanitarian Aid” To East Ukraine (ZeroHedge, June 27, 2014):

While Poroshenko extends today’s ceasefire (under threat of military action if nothing is solved by then); the phrase “hearts and minds” comes to mind as Russia unleashes its latest softly-softly headline in providing ‘humanitarian aid’ to the eastern regions of Ukraine. While ‘asking’ Ukraine to help determine the route for the aid, the press release explains this is ‘aid’ for the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk following “numerous appeals” by the people. It appears that the “aid” does not include US-Iraq-style “special advisers.” Continue reading »

Ukraine Considers Declaring Martial Law In Donetsk, Luhansk (Zerohedge, June 3, 2014):

As the bloody violence drifts off the mainstream media’s headlines in the US – but escalates on the ground – it appears the situation has grown serious enough to prompt further intervention in the separatist-held south and east regions:

We suspect, following the over-running in Donetsk today that these actions will awaken Putin from his recent slumber… making this week’s D-Day celebrations even more tense.

“People’s Governor” Of Newly-Independent Luhansk Survives Assassination Attempt (ZeroHedge, May 13, 2014):

Just 2 days after the people of the Luhansk region voted for secession to Russia – despite protestation from the West and calls for delays from Putin – the self-proclaimed “people’s governor” of the region has been injured in an apparent assassination attempt this morning. A car carrying Valery Bolotov was shot at and the press office reports that “he is injured and is currently in a private hospital.” Of course, it is unclear who opened fire upon the governor but it certainly won’t please Putin who has vowed to protect the rights of his people in that region…

Via Novinite,

The self-declared People’s Governor of Luhansk Region in eastern Ukraine was injured in an assassination attempt, Tuesday.

Time For More Costs? Pro-Russian Forces Storm Luhansk Police Buildings – Live Feed (ZeroHedge, April 29, 2014):

One of East Ukraine’s largest cities, Luhansk, has seen its police headquarters over-run by pro-Russian activists (with machine guns and greande launchers evident):

In the immediate aftermath, the police chief has resigned over the separatist demands but as France24 reports, Ukraine’s president has slammed police ‘inaction’ and ‘criminal treachery’ as rebels stormed state buildings. The demonstrators chanted “Referendum Russia” and raised a Russian flag over the building after the takeover.
