- GMO rice illegally tested on Chinese children as part of US-backed research project? (Natural News, Sep 21, 2012):

Chinese authorities are currently investigating allegations that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) worked with Chinese researchers back in 2008 to illegally test genetically-modified (GM) “Golden Rice” on rural Chinese children. Reuters reports that 24 Chinese children between the ages of six and eight may have served as human guinea pigs for the project, which had never even been approved to take place by the Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The so-called “Golden Rice Project” is a massive endeavor birthed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (http://www.naturalnews.com/032834_humanitarian_aid_GMOs.html) more than a decade ago to develop and introduce into the market rice that has been bio-engineered to artificially produce its own beta carotene (vitamin A). The ultimate goal, according to the project, is to help nourish the millions of poor children around the world that are vitamin A deficient by forcibly replacing their natural varieties of rice with GM golden rice.

  • I was completely shocked by the news I saw today… the Japanese gov’t to make research and study of radiation effects
  • So now it’s official, all those things we heard about people staying behind in Fukushima being Guinea pigs.
  • They just completely confirmed officially.
  • For me this is morally unbelievable.
  • Of course these people need some attention, but they don’t need study or research on them.

- VA Must Disclose Veteran Drug Test Documents (Courthouse News Service, July 23, 2012):

(CN) – Veterans won another court order requiring the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to hand over more documents about its Cold War-era drug experiments on thousands of Vietnam veterans.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley in Oakland, Calif., said the documents requested were “squarely relevant” to the claim that the government failed to adequately notify veterans of the chemicals they were exposed to and what that exposure might do to their health.

The Army and the CIA, with the help of Nazi scientists, used at least 7,800 veterans as human guinea pigs for testing the effects of up to 400 types of drugs and chemicals, including mescaline, LSD, amphetamines, barbituates, mustard gas and nerve agents, the Vietnam Veterans of America and individual soldiers claim in a 2009 class action.

The government covered up the true nature of its experiments, which began in the 1950s under code names such as “Bluebird,” “Artichoke” and “MKUltra.”

In “Project Paperclip,” the Army and CIA allegedly recruited Nazi scientists to help test various psychochemicals and develop a new truth serum using its own veterans as test subjects.

“Over half of these Nazi recruits had been members of the SS or Nazi Party,” according to the class action. “The ‘Paperclip’ name was chosen because so many of the employment applications were clipped to immigration papers.”

Veterans say the government was trying to develop and test substances that could trigger mind control, confusion, euphoria, altered personality, unconsciousness, physical paralysis, illogical thinking and mania, among other effects.

‘In a world first trial’ = Pregnant mothers used as guinea pigs

‘Researchers are hoping’ = They have not the foggiest idea what they are doing

What could possibly go wrong?

- Obesity treated in the womb (Herald Sun, April 02, 2012):

  • Obese women given diabetes pills in drug trial
  • Aim to reduce the size of their babies in the womb
  • “Saying at that stage to eat less is not particularly helpful”

OBESE mothers are being given diabetes pills to reduce the chance of them having a fat baby.

In a world first trial, 400 overweight pregnant women in the UK and Scotland will be prescribed metformin – a drug that has been used for decades to treat diabetes and is cleared for pregnancy.

Researchers are hoping that taking metformin from the second trimester onwards will have result in smaller babies and cut the risk of stillbirth, maternal death and cardiovascular disease.

The trial has angered many health experts who say overweight mothers should be encouraged to exercise and eat properly rather than just pop a pill to produce a thinner baby.

From the article:

“They’re hoping we die off, so you apply [for benefits], you get turned down,” Josephs said. “And it just goes on for years and years, and they just want to wear us down. They want to use young men as guinea pigs and throw them away.”

- Vets feel abandoned after secret drug experiments (CNN, March 1, 2012):

The moment 18-year-old Army Pvt. Tim Josephs arrived at Edgewood Arsenal in 1968, he knew there was something different about the place.

“It just did not look like a military base, more like a hospital,” recalled Josephs, a Pittsburgh native. Josephs had volunteered for a two-month assignment at Edgewood, in Maryland, lured by three-day weekends closer to home.

“It was like a plum assignment,” Josephs said. “The idea was they would test new Army field jackets, clothing, weapons and things of that nature, but no mention of drugs or chemicals.”

But when he went to fill out paperwork the morning after his arrival, the base personnel were wearing white lab coats, and Josephs said he had second thoughts. An officer took him aside.

“He said, ‘You volunteered for this. You’re going to do it. If you don’t, you’re going to jail. You’re going to Vietnam either way — before or after,’” Josephs said recently.

From 1955 to 1975, military researchers at Edgewood were using not only animals but human subjects to test a witches’ brew of drugs and chemicals. They ranged from potentially lethal nerve gases like VX and sarin to incapacitating agents like BZ.

The military also tested tear gas, barbiturates, tranquilizers, narcotics and hallucinogens like LSD.

- America’s nuclear guinea pigs: Astonishing film that shows how Marines were used to test atomic weapons (Daily Mail, Feb. 19, 2012):

They were the nuclear guinea pigs of the Cold War.

And this is the shocking film to show how U.S. Marines were used in hundreds of experiments by the US military to test the limits of nuclear bombs between 1951 and 1957.

During many of those tests, soldiers who thought of themselves as ‘ground grunts’ and were sworn to secrecy witnessed the atomic explosions first-hand, and from close range, before the devastating health risks of those bombs were fully understood.

In Operation Desert Rock, the military conducted a series of nuclear tests in the Nevada Proving Grounds between 1951 and 1957, exposing thousands of participants – both military and civilian – to high levels of radiation.

In total, more nearly 400,000 American soldiers and civilians would be classified as ‘atomic veterans.’

Dec 16

- Tokyo people as guinea pigs (Fukushima Diary, Dec. 15, 2011):

Japanese government seems to think they can reduce radiation by burning.

Since morning of 12/13/2011, the Ohta incineration plant has been incinerating radioactive debris from Onagawa nuclear plant. The debris is made of wood, plastic and cloth etc.. They have been incinerated from the morning of 12/13 to 12/14 evening, for 34 hours in total. The total amount to be incinerated was 60 tons.

NHK reports it was to check how much radiation is emitted by incinerating but they also say that the debris was checked in Onagawa cho and was found to be safe, which does not make any sense.

The result will not be published until mid January. They are trying to reduce the radiation level of the debris by incinerating until it becomes lower than 8,000 Bq/Kg, but it means the excessive amount of radiation will evaporate into the air. If they become lower than 8,000 Bq/Kg, they will use it for landfill in Tokyo bay or for material of concrete. They have already made a plan to accept 100,000 tons on the assumption of that they can make the citizens understand “right”.

Oct 30

- Panel endorses anthrax vaccine test on children (San Francisco Chronicle, Oct. 29, 2011):

Washington — A key panel of government advisers Friday recommended that the federal government sponsor a controversial study to test the anthrax vaccine in children to see whether the inoculation would protect young Americans against a bioterrorist’s attack.

The National Biodefense Science Board, which advises the federal government on issues related to bioterrorism, voted 12-1 to recommend that the Health and Human Services Department move forward with a study aimed at determining whether the vaccine is safe and effective in children and identifying the best dose. Patricia Quinlisk of the Iowa Department of Public Health, who chairs the panel, was the only dissenter.

“We need to know more about the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccine as we develop plans to use the vaccine on a large number of children in the event of a bioterrorist’s attack,” said Ruth Berkelman of Emory University, a panel member.

Don’t miss to watch the video:

- Fallout! (60 Minutes, June 17, 2011):

When Japan was rocked by a massive earthquake and tsunami back in March, we told ourselves the worst was behind us.

Tens of thousands dead, an economy shattered, whole communities razed.

Surely the Japanese had suffered enough.

But all these weeks later, the crisis is far from over.

The crippled Fukushima nuclear plant is still leaking and, judging from the experience at Chernobyl, Japan’s recovery won’t be measured in years, but centuries.

Full transcript: LIZ HAYES: On Japan’s eastern shores where thousands of people once lived there are now only neat piles of rubble and an eerie silence to mark the tsunami that so devastated a nation. But it’s not long before that silence is shattered signalling there’s another disaster looming. What’s it saying, Frank?FRANK JACKSON: It’s nothing like it’s said before.

LIZ HAYES: We’re heading for ground zero of Japan’s nuclear crisis the meltdown of the Fukushima power plant. It’s more than 20km away, but already we’re picking up its deadly fallout.

FRANK JACKSON: The radiation is building, the further we go in so it’s going to be too dangerous to carry on.

LIZ HAYES: So we actually have to stop here.

FRANK: Yep. I’m not willing to take you any further.

LIZ HAYES: Radiation expert Frank Jackson and his Geiger counters tell us we’ve already come too far. Even the protective gear is not enough?

FRED: Gamma is the strongest form of radiation it will go through most things apart from lead.

LIZ HAYES: Well, that’s the type of radiation we want to avoid.

FRED: It is. Yeah.

LIZ HAYES: Fukushima a major supplier of Japan’s power once looked like this. These shocking new images show the moment the tsunami smashed into the plant triggering a series of fires and explosions. Just 200 kilometres from Tokyo, three of the six nuclear reactors at Fukushima are now in meltdown and deadly radiation has already leaked into the sea and air.

MICHIO: They say the reactor is stable, yes, that’s true. Stable like you’re hanging on the edge of a cliff hanging by your fingernails and that one by one your fingernails start to crack. That’s stability. In other words, it’s a race against time.

LIZ HAYES: If you thought nuclear disaster had been averted in Japan, then meet physicist, Michio Kaku.

MICHIO: If you’ve been exposed because you’re an atomic worker, even after you’re long dead and buried your gravesite will be radioactive. Your great grandkids can come with Geiger counters and see that great granddaddy still has radiation at his gravesite.

LIZ HAYES: Are you serious?

MICHIO: I’m serious

LIZ HAYES: The death and destruction, the displacement of so many families has been quite shocking and radioactive contamination just adds another layer to what is already an unspeakable tragedy, these were obviously people’s homes but because the nuclear plant is just 20 kilometres the decision to return rebuild may well be out of their hands. More than 135,000 people have been forced to evacuate. The streets, in towns and villages are now mostly deserted. And locals have been told their food and water may be contaminated. Shall we test these?

FRED: There’s the same as an X-ray according to this.

LIZ HAYES: So every time you have a cabbage you have an X-ray.

FRED: Yep.

LIZ HAYES: These are Japan’s radiation refugees, thousands who are now living in cardboard shelters sleeping on the floors of public buildings with few possessions and little privacy and facing a future that doesn’t seem to offer much more. When you look at this I do feel like I’m looking through someone’s window. People have gone to a lot of effort to try and make a cardboard box home.

CHIA: Yeah, I’m surprised to see there are photographs and all the book shelves built up.

LIZ HAYES: Many Japanese people, like Chia Matsumoto fear their country will never fully recover. Do you think you’ll ever be able to take food, water, the air you breathe for granted again?

CHIA: Ah, knowingly no, I don’t think so. I just have to believe that that’s safe to eat or drink. But somewhere in my mind I’m sure I know and I always suspect or always doubt is this, I have to ask myself “is this is okay, or if I do this, is it going to show in my health in a few years’ time. I already do.”

MICHIO: These are guinea pigs in some sense. Human guinea pigs to see exactly how radiation disperses in the environment and exactly how it’s incorporated into people’s bodies and into their children’s bodies and as the years and decades go by we’ll see an increase in cancer.
