Farmers less enamoured of snow than tourists in Sa Pa:

“To people here, it means fighting the deadly cold.”

Farmers in Sa Pa District, where the temperature dropped to minus 4.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, said snow is falling at “a sensitive” time.

Many hope to sell vegetables grown on hundreds of hectares and chickens and buffaloes for Tet, the country’s most important festival, which comes in two weeks’ time.

But according to official statistics, snow has caused losses of more than VND2.3 billion ($103,500) to the district’s farmers after affecting more than 170 hectares of vegetable fields and killing five calves.

Dinh Viet Phuong, a vegetable farmer, estimated his loss at at least VND50 million (US2,250) since his vegetable garden is buried under snow and has little chance of survival.

“We’ve lost Tet.”

The “Historic” Winter Blizard Was Just Upgraded To A “Potentially Epic Winter Blockbuster”

The “Historic” Winter Blizard Was Just Upgraded To A “Potentially Epic Winter Blockbuster”:

Yesterday some readers were offended when we dubbed the upcoming winter storm set to slam the Northeastern United States and impact up to 50 million people, in roughly 48 hours as “potentially historic” – a phrase created not by us, but by the WaPo’s meteorologists.

Still, what’s the big deal, the purists will say, pointing out that snow in January is not exactly a shocking event. We fully agree, however we would like to remind readers that “snow in the winter”, especially when coupled with, gasp, cold weather, is precisely what the US Bureau of Economic Analysis used as justification ot arbitrarily push Q1 GDP in both 2014 and 2015 higher by nearly 1% as a result of “incremental” seasonal adjustments after the fact, the explanation being that the cold weather and the snow resulting from a handful of blizards ended up crushing the US economy.

Global Warming Alarmists Claim Weather Satellites Can’t Be Trusted

Global Warming Alarmists Claim Weather Satellites Can’t Be Trusted:

Global warming believers always say that climate skeptics are guilty of wishful thinking, and that they’re letting politics and emotions get in the way of indisputable scientific truths. Time and again they say that climate skeptics are cherry picking the data, and are falling for their own confirmation biases. They may be right. Many of the people who believe in man-made global warming are scientists, and scientists are really good at spotting those sorts of things. But they’re also human, so they’re just as likely to be guilty of cherry picking and confirmation bias as anyone else.

Never was this more true, than when NOAA announced earlier this year that the global warming “pause” didn’t happen. For the past 19 years give or take, the official data has shown very little global warming, which as you might expect has perturbed climate scientists ever since.

Piers Corbyn: Electrical Weather | Space News (Video)

Jan 13, 2016

Among the top science news stories of 2015, dramatic affirmations of the electromagnetic connection between the Earth and the Sun have been demonstrated. With each new discovery, the Sun’s profound influence on Earth’s climate and weather becomes more self-evident. However, it seems that the electrical nature of the Earth/Sun connection, and its role in so-called climate change, remains nowhere to be found in the popular climate change debate. Today, we check in on one of the leading skeptics of the theory of man-made climate change, solar physicist and meteorologist Piers Corbyn.

25 May 10 – The revamped cap-and-trade (control-and-tax) bill that Senators Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) and John Kerry (D-Mass.) are trying to foist on the American public is predicated on a flat-out lie.

The control-and-tax proponents would have you believe that our planet has been enduring unprecedented global warming (now coyly referred to as “climate change”), but the facts do not bear that out. Facts. Oh, those damnable facts.

Look at this chart.

Easterbrook – Natural global warming

You’ll see that today’s benign climate is not even close to being the warmest on record.

Not even close.
