Earlier today the FBI confirmed that they’re in the process of reviewing the Podesta email hack. Per Politico, an FBI spokesman delivered the following generalized comments regarding the recent WikiLeaks revelations but clearly stopped short of tying the leaks to “senior-level Russian officials” as the Clinton campaign has done on numerous occasions.
“The FBI is aware of media reporting on cyber intrusions involving multiple political entities, and is working to determine the accuracy, nature and scope of these matters. The cyber threat environment continues to evolve as cyber actors target all sectors and their data. The FBI takes seriously any allegations of intrusions, and we will continue to hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace.“
The FBI even posted the following helpful guide on how to avoid being hacked yourself. Though we suspect this is less of an issue for those of us who haven’t committed perjury before Congress, ignored a subpeona by deleting federal records and/or collected billions of dollars as part of a massive pay-to-play scandal involving numerous foreign countries and their leaders.

The company complied with a classified U.S. government directive, scanning hundreds of millions of Yahoo Mail accounts at the behest of the National Security Agency or FBI, said two former employees and a third person apprised of the events.

Just when you think the Hillary email scandal can’t get any more bizarre and corrupt, it does. According to a just released letter from the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Bob Goodlatte (R – Virginia), to Attorney General Lynch, the FBI apparently struck “side agreements” with both Cheryl Mills an Heather Samuelson to “destroy” their “laptops after concluding its search.”
In the attached, Goodlatte questioned why the destruction of the laptops used to sort Clinton’s emails was included in immunity deals that already protected Mills and Samuelson from prosecution based on the records recovered from their computers. Furthermore, we learn that according to the immunity agreements, FBI agents limited their search to documents authored before Jan. 2015. The Republican argued such parameters prevented investigators from examining potential proof of the destruction of evidence that may have occurred after that date, and that the deals offered to Mills and Samuelson already protected the aides from prosecution related to their alleged roles in the deletion of federal records.

James Comey appeared today before the House Judiciary Committee to answer questions about the FBI’s decision not to recommend prosecution of Hillary Clinton regarding misuse of classified emails – and in the process told members that once the politics stopped circulating, the FBI would again be seen as the institution “you know and love.”
This hyperbolic statement certainly set the tone for the larger hearing which saw Comey testifying with unusual emotionalism, adding at one point that people ought not to see those involved in the decision as “weasels.”
“You can call us wrong, but don’t call us weasels. We are not weasels,” he said. “We are honest people and….whether or not you agree with the result, this was done the way you want it to be done.”

One month ago, we reported that the State Department announced some good and some bad news for transparency advocates was disclosed, when Hillary Clinton’s former employer said it would release all of the deleted work-related emails that the FBI recovered from Hillary Clinton’s private system, eliminating the possibility that the messages will remain secret. The State Dept had “voluntarily” agreed to produce non-exempt agency records responsive to Judicial Watch’s FOIA request. That was the good news. The bad news was that as we said, it remains unclear if the full set of emails would be released by the presidential election on Nov. 8.
Now we know the answer: no, it won’t.
According to a new timetable set Friday by a federal judge, most of Hillary Clinton’s deleted, and then recovered, emails won’t be made public until after Election Day. As the WSJ reports, Judge James Boasberg on Friday ordered the State Department to finish processing 1,050 pages of material for release by Nov. 4—just a fraction of what could be as much as 10,000 pages of material.

The FBI released it’s (heavily-redacted) report yesterday on Hillary’s email server and their investigation. Let me just point out a few things; you can read the whole shebang if you wish (I did); agent notes are usually quite dry, and this was no exception.

In his now infamous July press conference, FBI director James Comey described Clinton’s management of her private email server to be “extremely careless” even though he thought her shortcomings didn’t warrant criminal charges. Of course we are all now well aware that, despite comments made to the contrary to Congress, Hillary’s private server contained dozens of email chains that had classified documents, including eight whose contents were “top secret.” While Comey noted that the FBI could find no evidence that any of those classified documents had been compromised, he also cautioned that they might lack the forensic records to know if they had been.
Turns out that at least one email account housed on Hillary’s private server was hacked in January 2013. The email account belonged to an undisclosed female staffer in President Clinton’s office. The hacker apparently used an anonymity software known as “Tor” to login to the account to browse “e-mail folders and attachments.” According to FBI notes, the FBI “was unable to identify the actor(s) responsible for this login or how [staffer’s] login credentials were compromised.”

With much of the recent discussion focusing on Hillary Clinton’s general health condition, and mental acuity in particular, we wonder if the FBI just threw her under the bus with the following statement which links Hillary’s “inability” to remember her transition instructions with her 2012 concussion and blood clot:
CLINTON stated she received no instructions or direction regarding the preservation or production of records from State during the transition out of her role as Secretary of State in early 2013. However, in December of 2012, CLINTON suffered a concussion and then around the New Year had a blood clot. Based on her doctor’s advice, she could only work at State for a few hours a day and could not recall every briefing she received. CLINTON did not have any discussions with aides about turning over her email records, nor did anyone from State request them. She believed her work-related emails were captured by her practice of sending email to the state.gov email address of her staff. CLINTON was unaware of the requirement to turn over printed records at that time. Her physical records were boxed up and handled by aides.

The infamous Romanian hacker Marcel Lazar, better known by his nickname “Guccifer” and best known for helping expose the existence of the private email domain Hillary Clinton used when she was U.S. secretary of state was sentenced on Thursday to 52 months in prison by a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia. Lazar had pleaded guilty in May to charges including unauthorized access to a protected computer and aggravated identity theft after being extradited from Romania.
In an NBC interview in May, Guccifer claimed that he also gained access to the former Secretary of State’s “completely unsecured” server. “It was like an open orchid on the Internet,” Lazar told NBC News. “There were hundreds of folders.” What is curious is that according to Reuters, law enforcement and national security officials said that claim is meritless. Of course, the question arises: just how diligently did national security officials probe Guccifer’s claim: the reason to be skeptical is that if this allegation was confirmed, then the FBI’s entire case against Clinton would collapse, as it would be proven that her server was indeed hacked, something the FBI said there was no evidence ever happened, and lead to renewed questioning about the impartiality of the FBI’s probe.

South Carolina Representative Trey Gowdy appeared on Fox News today and disclosed new details about the Clinton email scandal that seem to indicate intent to destroy evidence. Per the clip below, Gowdy reveals that Clinton used “BleachBit” to erase the “personal” emails from her private server.
For those not familiar with the software, BleachBit is intended to help users delete files in a way to “prevent recovery” and “hide traces of files deleted.” Per the BleachBit website:
