“Dutchsinse has been following the California slippage recently, pointing to the offshore pacific plate subduction zone as the likely candidate for a medium to large quake soon.
But he also highlights the onshore issues with the San Andreas which is also moving steadily.
His success rate in forecasting quakes is much higher than the ‘official scientists’ who trash him, as is the norm from people who keep their blinkers on or their pockets full.

Earthquake Watch: California Is Overdue for a ‘Big One:

California earthquakes are a geologic inevitability. The state straddles the North American and Pacific tectonic plates and is crisscrossed by the San Andreas and other active fault systems. The magnitude 7.9 earthquake that struck off Alaska’s Kodiak Island on Jan. 23, 2018 was just the latest reminder of major seismic activity along the Pacific Rim.

Tragic quakes that occurred in 2017 near the Iran-Iraq border and in central Mexico, with magnitudes of 7.3 and 7.1, respectively, are well within the range of earthquake sizes that have a high likelihood of occurring in highly populated parts of California during the next few decades.

“The Whole Town Is Evacuating” – Tsunami Headed For Alaska After 8.2 Magnitude Earthquake

“The Whole Town Is Evacuating” – Tsunami Headed For Alaska After 8.2 Magnitude Earthquake:

A powerful 8.2-magnitude earthquake detected in the Gulf of Alaska has triggered tsunami warnings in Alaska and tsunami watches across several Western states through British Columbia all the way down to San Diego…

Earthquake watches are also in effect for Hawaii

“Based on all available data a tsunami may have been generated by this earthquake that could be destructive on coastal areas even far from the epicenter,” the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

The earthquake struck about 175 miles southeast of Kodiak, Alaska, shortly after midnight in Alaska local time, according to preliminary figures from the United States Geological Survey. The quake had a depth of about 6 miles, according to USGS. That depth, meteorologists pointed out, is relatively shallow, raising the risk of dangerous tsunamis in Alaska.

In Kodiak, first responders drove through the streets warning residents to “evacuate immediately”…

New Zealand Fault Line Wakes Up: Plate Boundary Rupture Would Cause A Massive 9.0 Earthquake And Tsumami – “We Need To Think Japan 2011″

Fault Line Wakes Up: New Zealand Could Be DESTROYED By Massive 9.0 Earthquake:

A 2016 earthquake has awoken a fault line that was thought to be dormant. Now that it’s becoming active, fears have arisen that New Zealand could be destroyed by a massive 9.0 magnitude earthquake.

The devastating Kaikura earthquake in 2016 has resurrected the Hikurangi subduction zone where two tectonic plates clash and one is pushed down. Geologists are now warning that this trench could cause a massive earthquake on the ocean floor, and could trigger other 9.0 magnitude earthquakes and tsunamis that will reach the western coast of the islands in just seven minutes.

The Australian plate is heading north while the Pacific plate is heading west, and the combination of these motions means that the Pacific plate, which includes much of the South Island, is moving relative to the Australian plate at a rate of about 40millimeterss each year in a southwesterly direction.

Ursula Cochran, from the science firm GNS, told The Marlborough Express:

“We need to think Japan 2011 basically, because if our whole plate boundary ruptured it would be a magnitude-9 earthquake.”

134 Earthquakes Strike The San Andreas Fault As The Shaking Of The Earth’s Crust Intensifies

134 Earthquakes Strike The San Andreas Fault As The Shaking Of The Earth’s Crust Intensifies:

Within the last 7 days, 134 earthquakes “have hammered a three-mile stretch around Monterey County on the San Andreas fault”.  17 of those earthquakes were of magnitude 2.5 or greater, and many believe that these quakes could be a warning sign that a much bigger quake is imminent.  Let’s hope not, because when the “Big One” finally strikes California we will witness devastation on a scale that is unlike anything that we have seen before in modern American history.  The Northridge earthquake of 1994 was crippling, but it was only a magnitude 6.7 quake.  Experts tell us that when the “Big One” finally hits, we could be looking at a quake of magnitude 9.0 or greater, and such a disaster would make the Northridge earthquake look like a Sunday picnic.

The San Andreas fault stretches for more than 700 miles along the California coast, and in a previous article I discussed how seismologists have warned that it could potentially “unzip all at once”.  There is a reason why it is one of the most famous earthquake faults in the entire world, and all of the shaking that we have seen over the past 7 days has many scientists deeply concerned

Scientists Warn of Massive Earthquakes in 2018 Due to Earth’s Slowing Rotation

FYI.

Scientists Warn of Massive Earthquakes in 2018 Due to Earth’s Slowing Rotation:

2018 could see a stark uptick in earthquakes, according to a recent report published in Geophysical Research Letters and presented at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America.

According to Roger Bilham of the University of Colorado in Boulder and Rebecca Bendick of the University of Montana in Missoula, a tiny shift in the speed of the Earth’s rotation could trigger a doubling of the number of earthquakes the planet experiences.

The Guardians Observer summarized:

_______

October 30, 2017

We have a mystery on our hands (yet again).

As if we are in an episode of the twilight zone, or stuck on a skipping hard drive within the matrix, yet once again we have a VERY large earthquake reported (M8.4 in the rainforests of Peru) after we issued a warning for a M7.7 to M8.7 earthquake to strike the Pacific this week.

Some people have messaged me, and are trying to say it is a “mistake”.

I suppose they mean it’s a MISQUAKE.

Volcano experts called in to monitor Canary Island La Palma’s active mountain after hundreds of mini earthquakes are recorded in a week

Volcano experts called in to monitor Canary Island La Palma’s active mountain after hundreds of mini earthquakes are recorded in a week:

  • Hundreds of mini-earthquakes recorded on the seabed under La Palma island
  • The total number of tremors noted since October 7 is 352, experts say
  • However, they are so small that residents on the island have not felt them
  •  La Palma, a popular holiday destination, last saw a volcanic eruption in 1971

Seismic experts have been called in to carry out tests on the Canary island of La Palma after fears that an active volcano may erupt.

Hundreds of mini-earthquakes have been recorded on the island in the past few weeks, and scientists are now monitoring the seismic activity on La Palma 24 hours-a-day.

Tests will be carried out on the slopes of the island’s active volcano – Cumbre Vieja – to calculate any potential risk of an eruption.

Earthquake swarm detected under Cumbre Vieja volcano, Canary Islands

Earthquake swarm detected under Cumbre Vieja volcano, Canary Islands:

?A seismic swarm started under Cumbre Vieja volcano (La Palma) in the Canary Islands on Saturday, October 7, 2017. Authorities said they will increase monitoring the volcano starting October 10 and assign 5 scientists to keep track of the earthquakes. The last eruptive phase of this volcano started on October 26, 1971 and ended on November 18 (VEI 2).

The new, 24-hour monitoring network of the National Geographic Institute (IGN) has recorded a total of 68 earthquakes under the volcano since October 7 with magnitudes from 1.5 to 2.7 on the Richter scale.

The largest earthquake so far was M2.7 at 11:03 UTC on October 7 at a depth of 28 km (17.4 miles). The second largest was M2.6 at 23:23 UTC on October 7.

“This potential problem was first raised a few years ago when a crack appeared along the ridge peak of the island.
Now it has grown some and the swarm of earthquakes could easily dislodge the unstable western wall of the volcano causing it to slip into the ocean creating a mega tsunami, which would target Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, NY etc as far as Nova Scotia.

Do 40,000 Lightning Strikes Over SoCal Point To A Mega Quake On The Horizon?

Do 40,000 Lightning Strikes Over SoCal Point To A Mega Quake On The Horizon?:

A volatile storm has ignited a slew of 40,000 lightning strike in southwestern California.

The strikes have hit Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties – all between September 10-11.

The electric storm was most active on Sunday with an amazing 5,000 lightning bolts in the area over a three-hour period. NWS Los Angeles took to Twitter to report the tremendous display. The intense storm brought plenty of lightning to the Golden state’s southern region, but almost no rain.  The greatest rain total of .44 inches at Sudden Peak on Sunday. By Monday morning, heavy showers, thunderstorms, and 35-mph winds were reported in eastern Los Angeles County.

Fox News reported that the quake, the strongest in a century, was accompanied by flashes of green and blue lights shooting throughout the night sky. According to an El Universal story, the lights are a naturally occurring electro-magnetic charge caused by the collapse of the rocks in the ground during the earthquake.

Mexico Shaken By Magnitude 8.1 Earthquake, “Most Powerful Earthquake In A Century”, At Least 15 Dead

Probably just a ‘coincidence’:

“SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORM: The debris from this week’s monster X9-class solar flare hit Earth’s magnetic field last night. The result: Northern Lights in the USA as far south as Arkansas. A severe (G4-class) geomagnetic storm on Sept. 8th sparked auroras so bright that, in parts of Scandinavia, traffic stopped as drivers pulled over to absorb the display. More storms are in the offing tonight and tomorrow as Earth moves through the wake of this potent CME.”

Mexico Shaken By “Most Powerful Earthquake In A Century”, At Least 15 Dead:

Southern Mexico was shaken late Thursday by an 8.1-magnitude earthquake that killed at least 15 people, triggered a tsunami warning and was felt as far away as Mexico City . Despite the immense power of the tremor, which Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto described as “the most powerful earthquake in a century,” authorities said it had caused limited damage – but warned residents in affected areas to brace for aftershocks.

According to the Associated Press, the quake caused buildings to sway violently in Mexico’s capital more than 650 miles away from its epicenter. Residents fled buildings in their pajamas and gathered in frightened groups in the street.

While Mexico City avoided the widespread devastation of a 1985 quake that killed thousands, the tremor was strong enough to shatter windows at Mexico City airport and knock out power for one million residents, according to Reuters. For many, access has yet to be restored.

A number of buildings suffered severe damage in parts of southern Mexico. Some of the worst initial reports came from Juchitan in Oaxaca state, where sections of the town hall, a hotel, a bar and other buildings were reduced to rubble. The cornice of a hotel fell in the southern tourist city of Oaxaca, a witness told Reuters. The tremor was felt as far away as neighboring Guatemala.

Idaho earthquake swarm just won’t stop

Idaho earthquake swarm just won’t stop:

Local authorities say they cannot ever remember any earthquake swarm in Southeast Idaho that comes even close to the current series of temblors shaking the region.

I don’t know if they’re connected or not, but when you look on a larger map, you’ll see that these earthquakes are occurring about 120 miles SSE of the Yellowstone supervolcano.

Montana Earthquake Increased “Super Volcano” Eruption Concerns

Montana Earthquake Increased “Super Volcano” Eruption Concerns:

After being hit with the strongest earthquake in 20 years, Western Montanans woke to the trembles of a 5.8 magnitude quake. Although the damage is not severe, many geological experts are now raising concerns of Yellowstone’s dormant super volcano. In the wake of this earthquake, fears have increased that it could be waking up.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported, with Reuters adding that the tremor was felt hundreds of miles away, from Missoula to Billings and some surrounding states. A swarm of over 1100 earthquakes recorded in the Yellowstone caldera over the past month, in conjunction with this recent quake in Montana has prompted scientists to voice concerns about the so far dormant Yellowstone “Supervolcano.”
