A new report from the national commissioner of police in Denmark states organized migrant criminal gangs have become more numerous, more specialized and pose a greater threat than ever before.

A large police operation in February of 2015 in the region of Zealand and Lolland-Falster in Denmark led to the search of over 60 addresses by over 400 officers. the raid revealed the largest smuggling ring in the history of the country and consisted primarily of foreign migrants.

Charges against foreign criminals have more than doubled since 2009 and police worry that they are to blame for rising crime rates as domestic offending is declining, reports Danish paper Berlingske.

Sweden, Denmark, and Austria are seeking tough new powers to deter migrants, the latter two proposing to instantly turn back so-called asylum-seekers at their borders.

The Austrian government announced Tuesday they are receiving advice on how to turn back migrants within an hour, as well as capping the number of asylum requests it accepts, EurActiv reports.

On the same day, the Danish government proposed a law giving police the power to reject “asylum seekers” at their borders in times of crisis – times such as last year, when a million strong wave arrived after the German Chancellor suspended the Dublin agreement and invited unlimited numbers into the continent.

However, this self-serving police is starting to give way. A 24-year-old refugee asylum seeker from Iran, not Syria, made an initial court appearance on Monday to face charges of having raped a 19-year-old woman over the weekend, as reported by the Danish news. Denmark may go down as the first country to actually criminally prosecute these people who just see young girls as sluts for the taking at their own desire. I cannot image the outrage of fathers and how these politicians have the guts to try to cover up this behavior.

A racy ad campaign, started only nine months ago, has really hit the spot for Denmark’s campaign for more baby-making. The country now expects booming birth rates this summer.

According to research by Denmark’s Politiken newspaper, the summer months of June-August this year will produce 1,200 more Danes than last summer. In total, some 16,200 babies are due to be born.

“I’ve never experienced a boom like this in my time as a midwife,” said Ann Fogsgaard, who’s been on the job 33 years.

“Normally, there are more births during the summer compared to the winter, but an increase like this is crazy.”

In early 2015, after seeing a staggering $1.4 trillion in Euro area government debt trade at negative interest rates (the number has since grown to $6 trillion) we wondered when the bailout of insolvent governments was going to make its way to other debtors. Our question was quickly answered when we found that a negative rate mortgage had been issued by Nordea Credit, a bank in Denmark. Recently, even the WSJ finally stumbled on this bizarre inversion of traditional borrower obligations.

We noted at the time that this this was the first of many such paradoxes, as eventually more and more banks would begin to fall in line with ECB expectations and lend at slightly negative (at first, then progressively more negative) rates, rather than lose even more money as a result of leaving cash in the ECB deposit facility.

This is just the beginning: according the Danish media outlet, as a result of variable-refinancing, as recently as a week from now “a greater share of customers could have a negative rate.”

According to TreeHugger.com, Denmark’s WeFood grocery store, located in Copenhagen, has a different proposal. Instead of wasting mislabeled products, ugly produce, or items that come in damaged packaging, the brand new grocer wants to offer consumers a choice — and everyone is cheering it.

Each year, TreeHugger reports, 163,000 tons of food are discarded by Danish grocers. In many cases, discarded products aren’t necessarily bad. Instead, consumers are wasting “treats for a holiday that happened last week, a ripped box of cornflakes, plain white rice mislabeled as basmati, or anything nearing its expiration date.”

The national police force, Rigspolitiet, wants the ability to track every user’s digital footprints.

“Tracking online movements will help them to identify and arrest criminals, as crime and communication about crime is increasingly taking place in cyberspace,” Rigspolitiet commissioner Jens Henrik Højbjerg told DR Nyheder.

Højbjerg is publicly supporting Søren Pind, who said last month that he would draft a law that created a system of online surveillance.

The Danish parliament has passed measures aimed at deterring refugees from seeking asylum, including the confiscation of their valuables and a delay in family reunifications. The move has received widespread condemnation from human rights organizations.

Asylum seekers arriving in Denmark will now have to hand over cash exceeding 10,000 kroner (US$1,450) and any personal items valued at more than that amount. This is more than three times the 3,000 kroner ($435) that was originally proposed.

However, wedding rings and other sentimental items will be exempt from confiscation.

When the Danish Central Bank cut rates precisely a week ago, going from NIRP to NIRPer, and pushing the deposit rate from -0.2% to -0.35%, the sense of desperation was already in the air: after all this was already the second rate cut by the Denmark’s monetary authority in one week, all in the hope of preserving the peg to the DEK to the EUR. That sense of desperation just hit a fever pitch moments ago, when the Dutch central bank just went NIRPest, and cut rates across the board yet again, and made it even more costly to save money in the north European country, where the Deposit rate has just been cut from -0.35% to -0.5%!
