Secret Cable Reveals US Plan To Overthrow Assad By Exploiting “Extremist Groups”:

Now that Europe’s worsening refugee crisis and Russia’s stepped up support for the regime of Bashar al-Assad have (finally) focused the world’s attention on Syria’s four-year, bloody civil war, inquiring minds want to know: how did it happen that the country, which is now at risk of becoming a failed state, descend into chaos?

Of course when we speak of “inquiring minds” we mean those of the general public which, to this point, has remained largely ignorant of the fact that hundreds of thousands of people are dying in a place that shares a border with the country the US supposedly just got done “liberating.”

‘Time’s Up’ – Government Shutdown Odds Spike To 75%

“Time’s Up” – Government Shutdown Odds Spike To 75%:

Two weeks ago, when no one was talking about the possibility of a government shutdown, we warned it was coming. Today, as Politico reports, with very little time left to reach a deal, budget experts project a 75% chance of a shutdown.

While a shutdown is anything but certain, of course. But it’s hard to see how the situation could change dramatically in the very short time left before the start of the fiscal year. It’s far more likely the odds will get worse rather than better. Politico’s Stan Collender’s most recent projection is that there is now a 75 percent chance of a shutdown. As he explains,

Bailout World: Volkswagen “Cheating” Fine Is 20 Times Higher Than GM’s For ‘Killing 174 People’

Bailout World: Volkswagen “Cheating” Fine Is 20 Times Higher Than GM’s For ‘Killing 174 People’:

When bailout-darling GM ‘fessed up to an intentional ignition-switch defect, tied to at least 174 deaths, The Justice Department fined them $900 million (and no employees faced criminal charges). So, in this consequence-less world in which we live, when Volkswagen admits to literally cheating emissions-standards tests, it faces up to $18 billion in fines from The EPA, one has to wonder whether “we” have our priorities right?

EPIC: Rand Paul tearing Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson’s rear end on NSA spying.

(But then again: Rand Paul is an elite puppet, like Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc.)

EPIC: Rand Paul tearing Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson’s rear end on NSA spying:

Rand is a Senator, but he sure does use his power as a Senator to do what he swore to do. Defend the Constitution. This is pretty epic.

Seriously, I’m an IT guy working in the industry a few decades. Listening to this Homeland Security Secretary speak is really comical. If any of you are gearheads, you really have to listen to this guy talk. It will prove to you how strong the concentration of tardness exists at the very top of our govt.

Putin seeks to assuage Israel’s fears of Syrian aggression

FYI.

Putin seeks to assuage Israel’s fears of Syrian aggression:

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to assuage Israel’s fears of potential Iranian and Syrian aggression, during talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday that also addressed concerns over Russia’s military buildup in Syria.

The West suspects that Russia’s movement of aircraft, missiles, tanks and other military equipment to Syria is intended to support the government of President Bashar Assad. Russia has insisted that its aim is to help Syria, a longtime ally, fight the Islamic State group and has urged the West to coordinate its efforts with Assad’s government as well.

Russia gives Syria satellite Intel on ISIS

Russia gives Syria satellite Intel on ISIS:

The Russian Federation has recently boosted their military aid to the embattled Syrian Armed Forces, providing not only heavy weaponry, armor, and military personnel, but also, satellite imagery that has assisted the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) with locating the positions of the enemy combatants across Syria.
In August of 2015, the Syrian-Russo military agreement was finalized after the Syrian Government’s Deputy Prime Minister – Walid Muallem – visited the Russian capital of Moscow to accept the terms of the proposal that would allow for the Russian military to increase the total number of soldiers on the ground in western Syria.

ISIS Top Commander Was ‘Star Pupil’ Of US-special Forces Training

al-shishani-isis-chechen

One of ISIS’ top commanders was a ‘star pupil’ of US-special forces training in the country of Georgia:

Aside from ISIS’ ‘caliph’ Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Georgian ex-commando Omar al-Shishani might be the most recognizable and popular of the powerful militant group’s leaders.

Sporting a recognizable red beard and happy to pose for photos, Shishani has acted as a very public face for some of ISIS’ most notorious successes.

It was Shishani who posed with the stolen US Humvees that ISIS had seized from Mosul and brought back into Syria.

German fighter jets start patrolling Baltic skies with full ammo

German fighter jets start patrolling Baltic skies with full ammo:

German Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets have started patrolling the airspace of the three Baltic States with full ammunition loads. The move is designed to “motivate” German pilots, the military say.

German fighter jets are flying the Baltic skies fully armed “for the first time since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis,” the DPA news agency reports citing the German Air Force’s Inspector General Karl Müllner. He explained the move was not about “escalation,” but it is needed to ensure parity when encountering a potential enemy. The German military official did not elaborate on which Air Force might become the enemy.

Müllner added that ammunition on board Eurofighters is also necessary to “motivate pilots” on missions in the Baltic skies.

Greece Votes: Syriza Wins But Neo-Nazis Top Among The Unemployed

Update: New Democracy concedes to Syriza, following elections where following a 45% abstention rate, Tsipras is set to hold 145 seats in parliament.

Three months ago, when Greece held a dramatic referendum on the conditions of the country’s third bailout program, the world couldn’t get enough. Whether right or wrong, investors had come to believe that the fate of the financial universe hinged on the outcome of Greece’s fraught negotiations with creditors and despite the fact that the financial fallout from a potential Grexit had long since been thrust onto the shoulders of EMU taxpayers and away from the private sector, the market came to believe that a black swan event was just around the corner.

Fast forward to Sunday and Greeks are going to the polls again, only this time, no one seems to care. For those interested, we’ve included the full election preview below, but essentially what it comes down to is this:

If You Live in One of These States You’ll Soon Need a Passport for Domestic Flights

If You Live in One of These States You’ll Soon Need a Passport for Domestic Flights:

To comply with the 2005 Real ID Act, which the U.S. government has been slowly implementing for the past decade, citizens in a number of different U.S. states will now be forced to obtain a passport if they want to board an airplane – even for domestic flights.

The Department of Homeland Security and representatives with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection have declined to comment on why certain states have been singled out, but starting in 2016, residents of New York, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and American Samoa will need a passport to fly domestically. All other states will still be able to use their state-issued driver’s licenses and IDs — for now, at least.

According to the Department of Homeland Security’s guidelines on enforcement of the Real ID Act,

US Syria Strategy Officially Unravels: Kerry Admits Timetable For Assad Exit Is Completely Unknown

US Syria Strategy Officially Unravels: Kerry Admits Timetable For Assad Exit Is Completely Unknown:

With both Russia and Iran seemingly prepared to do what’s necessary to ensure Bashar al-Assad isn’t toppled in Syria, John Kerry admits that the US strategy of brining about regime change in Damascus is now in serious jeopardy. Speaking from London on Saturday, Kerry attempted to hang on to the “Assad must go” narrative, but in what might fairly be described as the most conciliatory language yet, Washington’s top diplomat essentially admitted that the timetable for Assad’s exit is now completely indeterminate. Meanwhile, Moscow and Tehran are set to hash out Syria’s future seemingly without any input from the Americans.
