Shimada City in Shizuoka Prefecture, whose mayor is deeply involved in the corruption over waste management in the city, has decided to go ahead with test burning of the disaster debris from Iwate Prefecture against fierce opposition from the city residents and citizens in neighboring cities and prefectures. The ashes after incineration will be buried in the final disposal site for regular garbage and industrial waste in the city.

To reward such an exemplary behavior, joyous Goshi Hosono, Minister of the Environment, tells the city that he has made green tea from Shimada City as the drink at the ministry.

Consider the millions of innocent victims that have already died or continue to suffer from horrific radiation-related health problems (“Chernobyl AIDS”, epidemic cancers, chronic fatigue, etc) resulting from the Chernobyl reactor explosions, fires, and fallout. If just two serious nuclear disasters, spaced 25 years apart, could cause such horrendous environmental catastrophes,  it is hard to imagine how we could ever hope to recover from hundreds of similar nuclear incidents occurring simultaneously across the planet. Since more than one third of all Americans live within 50 miles of a nuclear power plant, this is a serious issue that should be given top priority![1]

In the past 152 years, Earth has been struck roughly 100 solar storms causing significant geomagnetic disturbances (GMD), two of which were powerful enough to rank as “extreme GMDs”. If an extreme GMD of such magnitude were to occur today, in all likelihood it would initiate a chain of events leading to catastrophic failures at the vast majority of our world’s nuclear reactors, quite similar to the disasters at both Chernobyl and Fukushima, but multiplied over 100 times. When massive solar flares launch a huge mass of highly charged plasma (a coronal mass ejection, or CME) directly towards Earth, colliding with our planet’s outer atmosphere and magnetosphere, the result is a significant geomagnetic disturbance.

In the European part of Russia, the current temperatures are ten degrees below the norm. On Wednesday morning, the temperature in the Moscow region dropped to 26 and even 30 degrees below zero Centigrade.

Cold weather is expected to become even colder this week in Moscow and the region, RIA Novosti reports. Winter cold has already claimed several human lives. One person died of frostbite yesterday in Moscow. Ten others asked for medical help and were hospitalized.

In the evening of 2/1/2012, Tepco admitted that the amount of water leakage was up to 8.5 tones, though they announced it was only 6L.

Because it contains 35,500 Bq/L, it means at least 301750000Bq of radiation has leaked.

At first they mentioned it in L, which is a unit for volume, and they changed it to tone, which is a unit for weight. Japanese people are confused by this random report of Tepco.

It leaked from a pipe (9mm diameter.) connected to a facility to measure the amount of water in reactor jet pomp. The pipe was completely taken off from the plug but the reason is not known yet. Tepco suspects it might be from frozen water inside of the pipes.

The leaked water didn’t flow out of the buildings but went into the basement floor of reactor 4.

The steady-ish readings of 0.81 (photo) were taken when I came in off the street. It was briefly reading 1.89 on the street in the wind. I decided to come inside asap to the back yard, and then left the GS sitting outside for a while (0.25 photo) – checking on it. I’m in a relatively sheltered section. There was no way I was going to stand in ~2 microSieverts per hour in the wind!! No detectable radiation on me as such, it appears to be in the air. I can only speculate as to what it is. To be honest, it scared the cap out of me!

Japan Government Officially Admits Concealing Fukushima Worst Case Szenario

On 1/29, Minister of environment, Hosono Goshi answered in the interview of Kyodo to admit they concealed the worst senario of Fukushima accident.

After 311, they limited the access to the worst senario such as Kan Japanese prime minister etc.. Only a few people could know what they assume to be the worst.

Hosono tells, The worst senario was unrealistic. If they announced after 311, nobody might have remained in Tokyo. If so, they could not settle it down Fukushima accident.

It is not explained why they couldn’t settle it down if nobody remained in Tokyo. It is not explained why they assumed the “unrealistic” senario either.

NY chefs learn about Japanese cuisine

Chefs at high-end restaurants in New York have taken part in a workshop to learn about traditional Japanese cuisine.

New York-based French chef Daniel Boulud organized the workshop. He led a group of chefs last July to cook meals for survivors in the tsunami-ravaged city of Kamaishi.

About 40 chefs took part in Thursday’s workshop.

A sushi chef explained traditional ways to prepare raw fish.

Boulud said Japan is striving to restore trust in food safety, and he believes that Japanese ingredients are safe.
