Following up this article..Tokyo is contaminated as the worst place in Chernobyl

39,488 Bq/Kg of cesium (134 + 137) was measured in Edogawa ku in Tokyo. It equals to 2,566,720Bq/?.

In the secondary evacuation area in Belarus, it was 555,000 ~ 1,480,000 Bq/m2 of cesium 137.

Even if you consider the data of Tokyo includes cesium 134, still it can be near the maximum limit of the secondary evacuation area in Belarus.

Human Genes Engineered Into Experimental GMO Rice Being Grown In Kansas

According to our sources, human genes have been spliced into an experimental strain of GMO rice that’s being grown in Kansas. So now, beyond combining animals and insects with food crops, the mad GMO scientists are actually combining humans and plants to create hybrid “human-rice” plants!
– Mike Adams, Natural News

Human genes engineered into experimental GMO rice being grown in Kansas (Natural News, May 02, 2012):

Unless the rice you buy is certified organic, or comes specifically from a farm that tests its rice crops for genetically modified (GM) traits, you could be eating rice tainted with actual human genes. The only known GMO with inbred human traits in cultivation today, a GM rice product made by biotechnology company Ventria Bioscience is currently being grown on 3,200 acres in Junction City, Kansas — and possibly elsewhere — and most people have no idea about it.

Since about 2006, Ventria has been quietly cultivating rice that has been genetically modified (GM) with genes from the human liver for the purpose of taking the artificial proteins produced by this “Frankenrice” and using them in pharmaceuticals. With approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Ventria has taken one of the most widely cultivated grain crops in the world today, and essentially turned it into a catalyst for producing new drugs.

“A Staggering Mess” as Tsunami Debris Hits Alaska Coast Early

“A Staggering Mess” as Tsunami Debris Hits Alaska Coast Early (The SunBreak, April 30, 2012):

Gulf of Alaska Keeper, a non-profit organization that estimates it has cleared nearly 1,000,000 pounds of plastic debris from Alaskan coasts over the past 10 years, is reporting “tons” of what it believes is likely tsunami debris washing up on the coasts of the Kayak and Montague islands. Chris Pallister, president of Gulf of Alaska Keeper, told Alaska’s KTUU TV that ““It’s a staggering mess […] the magnitude of this is just hard to comprehend and I’ve been looking at this stuff a long time.”

In an email to The SunBreak, Pallister let loose:

In my opinion, this is the single greatest environmental pollution event that has ever hit the west coast of North America. The slow-motion aspects of it have fooled an unwitting public. It far exceeds the Santa Barbara or Exxon Valdez oil spills in gross tonnage and also geographic scope. (I was in Prince William Sound during the during the Exxon Valdez oil spill and so have a sense of comparison).

Tens of thousands of miles of coastline from California to the Aleutian Islands are going to be hit with billions of pounds of toxic debris. NOAA’s latest estimate is that 1.5 million tons of largely plastic debris will hit the western United States coast. That is 30 billion pounds. We expect Alaska to get the largest percentage of that with much of it lodging on northern Gulf of Alaska beaches. Most of this will be plastic which is full of inherent toxic chemicals that will leach into the environment for generations.

Possibly worse are the millions of containers full of anything from household chemicals to toxic industrial chemicals that are floating our way. They will eventually burst upon our shores…in sensitive inter-tidal spawning and rearing habitat, endangering shorebirds, marine mammals, fish and everything in between. We are already finding empty and partially full containers of tsunami related chemicals and fuel drums along the northern Gulf of Alaska shoreline. The heavier fuller containers will come later because the wind doesn’t push them as fast toward the Gulf of Alaska as they are more current driven. The light-weight, high-windage debris such as Styrofoam, buoys, bottles, empty containers and drums have already arrived in staggering quantities.

Everyone is careful to say the debris is only “suspected” of having come from Japan’s March 2011 tsunami; there is plenty of marine debris on the ocean in general. Here is Pallister on the scope of the everyday marine debris problem.

YouTube

But the newer condition and quantity of the debris that has been seen–”chunks of pink and blue insulation, which appear to be from buildings [and] white and black floats the size of oil barrels”–argue for the use of Occam’s Razor. This isn’t the first debris with Japanese printing to show up off our coasts: a soccer ball was returned to its owner, and a derelict fishing ship was sunk before it interfered with shipping lanes.

An Urgent Request on UN Intervention to Stabilize the Fukushima Unit 4 Spent Nuclear Fuel

Recently, former diplomats and experts both in Japan and abroad stressed the extremely risky condition of the Fukushima Daiichi Unit 4 spent nuclear fuel pool and this is being widely reported by world media. Robert Alvarez, Senior Scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), who is one of the best-known experts on spent nuclear fuel, stated that in Unit 4 there is spent nuclear fuel which contains Cesium-137 (Cs-137) that is equivalent to 10 times the amount that was released at the time of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. Thus, if an earthquake or other event were to cause this pool to drain, this could result in a catastrophic radiological fire involving nearly 10 times the amount of Cs-137 released by the Chernobyl accident.

Nearly all of the 10,893 spent fuel assemblies at the Fukushima Daiichi plant sit in pools vulnerable to future earthquakes, with roughly 85 times more long-lived radioactivity than released at Chernobyl.

Study: Sun May Soon Have Four Poles … Sunspot Activity Appears To Resemble Maunder Minimum

Sun may soon have four poles, say researchers (Asahi Shimbun, April 20, 2012):

The sun may be entering a period of reduced activity that could result in lower temperatures on Earth, according to Japanese researchers.

Officials of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan and the Riken research foundation said on April 19 that the activity of sunspots appeared to resemble a 70-year period in the 17th century in which London’s Thames froze over and cherry blossoms bloomed later than usual in Kyoto.

In that era, known as the Maunder Minimum, temperatures are estimated to have been about 2.5 degrees lower than in the second half of the 20th century.

The Japanese study found that the trend of current sunspot activity is similar to records from that period.

The researchers also found signs of unusual magnetic changes in the sun. Normally, the sun’s magnetic field flips about once every 11 years. In 2001, the sun’s magnetic north pole, which was in the northern hemisphere, flipped to the south.

Geiger Counter-Wielding Fukushima Hipsters Make Monitoring Nuclear Fallout Cool (Gawker,April 30, 2012):

It’s been more than a year since the Japanese tusnami caused a meltdown at the Fukushima nuclear plant and the clean-up continues. But a bit of background radiation has not stopped a crew of Japanese hipsters from doing their hip business in the area. They’ve formed the “Gamma Watch Squadron,” the world’s coolest nuclear watchdogs.

For months, the Gamma Watch Squad has been taking geiger counter readings around Fukushima and posting the results to Instagram, complete with faux-vintage filters. The leader of the crew appears to be Japanese rapper Deli, a member of the hip hop group Nitro Microphone Underground. I first found the Gamma Watch Squad’s work on the blog Fukushima-Diary, which aims to expose what its proprietor says is a “media blackout” of still-dangerous conditions around Fukushima.

In between snowboard sessions and rapping in Youtube video, Deli and his friends take readings and pose in hazmat suits while documenting elevated radiation levels around kids playing barefoot in a stream.

You can check out Deli’s web gallery and Instagram feed. They’ll be at it for a while, since radiation from Fukushima will hang around for 10 years, according to reports. Even in the darkest moments, hip finds a way.

Autoradiography Of Dead Fukushima Bird By Prof. Mori Of Tokyo University

How contaminated a bird is in Fukushima (Fukushima Diary, April 29, 2012):

Prof. Mori of Tokyo university took a picture of a bush warbler in Fukushima by autoradiography.

It took one month to capture the radiation from cesium 137.

The bush warbler was found dead in Iidate mura last December.

This photo was taken from the stomach of the bird. Black spots in the wing parts show radioactive particles stuck to the wings.

The ones in the body parts show the radioactive particles taken into the body.

Biological concentration is assumed to have happened through contaminated worms.

Thyroid nodules rate in Fukushima is 20 time higher than in Chernobyl (Fukushima Diary, April 29, 2012):

Following up this article..Thyroid pandemic

In March, Fukushima government conducted thyroid test for under 18 in 13 cities and towns such as Minamisoma city, Namiemachi, Iidatemura, Tomiokamachi etc..

The result shows thyroid nodules (?5.0mm) or cyst (?20.0mm) were seen in 13,460 from 38,114 people (35.3%).

Compared to their pre-test result of January, it increased from 29.7% to 35.3%. (? 5.6%)

? January

? March

By the way, Yamashita Shunichi conducted thyroid test for 120,000 people in Chernobyl from 5.1991 to 4.1996, when was 5 years ~ 10 years after Chernobyl.

According to the research of Yamashita, in Homyel, the most contaminated city in Belarus, the thyroid nodules ratio (*) was 1.74%, which is only one in twenties of that 35.3%.

( Even if (*) excludes the ratio of cyst, the exclusive nodule ratio in Fukushima is 1.0%, which is almost the same as the ratio in Belarus of 1.74%. )

The statistics of Chernobyl was taken 5~10 years later than the accident where it has been only 1 year since 311 in Fukushima.

Fukushima On Steroids: ‘Japan Is In The Process Of Contaminating The Entire Pacific Ocean’

From the article:

At Chernobyl no spent-fuel pools were destroyed.

Fukushima on Steroids (Dr. Mark Sircus, April 30, 2012):

I wish everything I am reporting on were not true, or at least were less true than it appears. It does seem that Japan is in the process of contaminating the entire Pacific Ocean via continued uncontrolled releases of radioactivity at Fukushima. After low-balling initial estimates of radiation releases, the Japanese authorities now acknowledge that substantial amounts of radioactive material leaked from the crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi reactors.[1]

The nuclear disaster in Japan has released radioactive isotopes that have poisoned the country’s soil, food, and water. The fallout is being rapidly taken up by living things and passed up the food chain with airborne radioactive isotopes reaching around the world but especially in the northern hemisphere where most of the radioactive particles will settle.

Most Americans have no idea what is happening. But within days of the accident at Fukushima radioactive contaminants were detected at monitoring stations in the Pacific Coast states. Nearly 1% of the “hot” sulfur released from the plant is estimated to have traversed the Pacific to reach southern California beaches.[2]

Why Nuclear Scientists Have Missed The Danger Of Spent Fuel Pools … ‘Even Loss Of Circulation Of Coolant Will Lead To Overheating Of The Fuel And Extensive Fuel Damage’

Fukushima: Find The Corium? Maybe In A Few Thousand Years Or So (End The Lie, April 29, 2012):

So another week or so has gone by since I wrote my first piece on Fukushima for End the Lie, and still no progress has been made at Fukushima, although they did throw a sheet over the spent fuel pool of Reactor #4.

They are talking about building a 100-foot long wall under the reactors and digging some wells on the property to deal with the radioactive water problem. For now, it just pours into the ocean, 24/7 and keeps steaming out of the ground after which it is carried into the air which then sends it blowing around the planet.

Of course none of the things Tepco did in the past week brought them any closer to containing, circumventing, repairing, or fixing the rickety structure that is Reactor #4 (see photos).

In the past thirteen months, a lot of what Tepco has done has failed miserably. For example, the machines brought in to “clean” the radioactive water kept breaking because the radiation is so high. The robots sent in the reactor buildings to assess the situation also kept breaking, because the radiation is so high. The drone they tried to fly over the site to take air measurements crashed into the roof of Reactor #2 last year, because the radiation is so high.

Humans can’t get near the reactors and/or corium either, because… yeah, you guessed it, the radiation is so high.

So, what is corium?

Inspector General Blasts EPA For Failure To Monitor Fukushima Radiation

Inspector General Faults EPA Radiation Monitoring (Forbes, April 27, 2012):

Twenty percent of the EPA’s stationary radiation monitors were out of service last year at the time of the Fukushima nuclear accident, leading the U.S. Office of the Inspector General to conclude that the EPA’s Radnet system is “vulnerable” and managed with less urgency and priority than it deserves.

Broken monitors, parts shortages, “relaxed quality controls” and a lack of volunteer operators left 25 of the EPA’s 124 stationary monitors out of service for an average of 130 days at the beginning of the Fukushima disaster, according to the OIG. Two monitors—in Harlingen, Texas and Raleigh, North Carolina—were out of service for more than a year.

“EPA’s RadNet program will remain vulnerable until it is managed with the urgency and priority that the Agency reports it to have to its mission,” the Inspector General concludes in an audit released  last week.

“If RadNet is not managed as a high-priority program, EPA may not have the needed data before, during, and after a critical event such as the Japan nuclear incident. Such data are crucial to determine levels of airborne radioactivity that may negatively affect public health and the environment.”

Plutonium 238 measured in Minamisoma (Fukushima Diary, April 26, 2012):

0.038 Bq/Kg (2.47Bq/m2) of Plutonium 238 was measured in Minamisoma.

They also measured 0.047 Bq/Kg ofPlutonium 239 and 240, and 0.73 Bq/Kg of Plutonium 241.

8.5 Bq/Kg of Strontium 89, and 50 Bq/Kg of Strontium 90 was also measured.

Mr. Oyama, Minamisoma city councilor had city government measure it.  He comments like these below,

  • Sample was taken after decontamination.
  • The sample contains soil, sand, and water other than black substance.(Water ratio is not announced.)
  • Sample to consist of only black substance and water (Moisture content = 71.4%) contains 309,000 Bq/Kg of cesium and it’s 1,080,000 Bq/Kg when it’s dry. It therefore will be more than 3 times higher if it doesn’t content sand, soil or water.
  • Pu238/Pu239+240 used to be 0.027 before 311. This result shows it’s 0.808.
  • The analysis was done by Japan Chemical Analysis Center, which is outsourced by the government.
