I saw what was really the fraud associated with genetic engineering: My impression, and I think most people’s impression with genetically engineered foods and crops and other things is that it’s just like putting one gene in there and that one gene is expressed. If that was the case, well then that’s not so bad. But in reality, the process of genetic engineering changes the cell in such a way that it’s unknown what the effects are going to be.

Rain With 20,000,000 Particles Of Radioactive Iodine-131 Per Liter Fell On U.S. (VIDEO)

Rain with 20,000,000 particles of radioactive iodine-131 per liter fell on US during post-Fukushima peak (VIDEO) (ENENews, Sep 19, 2012):

According to the video below featuring by Simon Fraser University’s Kris Starosta, a rainwater sample measured in the Vancouver area had levels of radioactive iodine-131 at 10 becquerels/liter [Bq/l], which corresponds to 10^7 particles of I-131 per liter of water [10^7 = 10,000,000].

The post-Fukushima peak for I-131 in the U.S. appears to have been in the San Francisco Bay Area, where levels reached 19.85 Bq/l.

An I-131 level of 19.85 Bq/l detected in the Bay Area rain sample is equivalent to 19,850,000 particles of I-131 per liter.

Just 100 Cod Left In North Sea

Overfishing has left fewer than 100 adult cod in the North Sea, it was reported.

Not a single cod aged over 13 was caught in the North Sea last year. Photo: GETTY

Just 100 cod left in North Sea (Telegraph, Sep 16, 2012):

A survey of catches at European ports has found that fishermen did not catch a single cod over the age of 13 last year.

The findings raise concerns for future stocks of cod, which become more fertile as they age. The fish can live as long as 25 years and grow to 6ft.

Researchers warned a lower life expectancy meant a lower birth rate and a faster decline.

Russian Nuke Waste May Have Murdered Us All (Veterans Today)

Russian Nuke Waste May Have Murdered Us All (Veterans Today, Sep 17, 2012):

Enormous quantities of decommissioned Russian nuclear reactors and radioactive waste were dumped into the Kara Sea in the Arctic Ocean north of Siberia over a course of decades, according to documents given to Norwegian officials by Russian authorities and published in Norwegian media.

Bellona had received in 2011 a draft of a similar report prepared for Russia’s Gossoviet, the State Council, for presentation at a meeting presided over by then-president Dmitry Medvedev on Russian environmental security.

The Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom confirmed the figures in February of this year during a seminar it jointly held with Bellona in Moscow.

Bellona is alarmed by the extent of the dumped Soviet waste, which is far greater than was previously known – not only to Bellona, but also to the Russian authorities themselves.

The catalogue of waste dumped at sea by the Soviets, according to documents seen by Bellona, and which were today released by the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, includes some 17,000 containers of radioactive waste, 19 ships containing radioactive waste, 14 nuclear reactors, including five that still contain spent nuclear fuel; 735 other pieces of radiactively contaminated heavy machinery, and the K-27 nuclear submarine with its two reactors loaded with nuclear fuel.

Date: Sept 14, 2012

Russian scientists have detected radiation in the north-west of the Pacific Ocean at a distance between 500-800 km to the east from Japan’s troubled Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant.

The expedition of the Russian geographical society has detected that the concentration of cesium-137 in that area exceeds the norm 10 times.

This is the first time when concentration of cesium 137 was found in the local sea waters while the air is clean.

Arnie Gundersen On High Radiation Levels Around Reactor No. 3

Gundersen on ‘high level’ radiation around Unit 3: “Can’t just be activation products” — This supports my detonation theory (ENENews, Sep 12, 2012):

Regarding the recent report Yomiuri: Tepco having difficulty with ‘debris’ around Unit 3 due to high radiation — Years before spent fuel removal will begin, Nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen of Fairewinds Energy Education writes to ENENews:

This supports my Unit 3 Detonation theory.

Why should the “high levels of radiation” only be near Unit 3 and not Unit 1 or 2???

“High level” can’t just be activation products of releases from inside the fuel rods, as this happened at all three units.

What isotopes are they finding?

In 2011, the NRC said there were fuel fragments near Unit 3… now only silence?

Japan/Korea Sea Contaminated As Much As Tokyo Bay

Japan/korea sea contaminated as much as Tokyo bay (Fukushima Diary, Sep 11, 2012):

Tokyo bay is known to be becoming a sea hotspot. (cf. Tokyo bay becoming a hot spot)
In this January, Fukushima Diary introduced the opinion of Mr. Hirose Takashi, a science writer that river carries cesium to Japan/Korea sea. [Link]

However, it had already happened in August of 2011.
Prof. Yamazaki from Kinki university analyzed cesium in sea ground of offshore Niigata prefecture.
He took samples around the mouth of Shinano river. The samples are from the sea ground of 15m, 20m, and 30m deep in the sea. He analyzed it in every 1cm deep in the ground.

The highest reading was 460 Bq/Kg, which was 2~3cm deep in the sea ground. The ground is 30m deep in the sea.

He measured 400~500 Bq/Kg of cesium from Tokyo bay in August of 2011 as well. It was near the mouth of Arakawa river. (cf. Contamination level is increasing in Tokyo Bay)

Japan/Korea sea is as much contaminated as Tokyo day by last summer.

Vietnam Veteran Leaves This World … To Live In The Trees … Becomes King Of The Tree House World (Video)

A Green Beret Medic Comes Home in 1974 and after Many False Starts Becomes King of the Tree House World

“I’ll take the trees – if you please.”

Vietnam Vet Leaves This World – To Live in the Trees (Veterans Today, Sep 8, 2012)

“One of the big things in my life was to try to make a living at something that I liked…on that I didn’t sell out on.” …Mike Garnier

I have a gem for you today folks. Mike Garnier moved to Oregon to put down roots after Vietnam but his desire to make a living working with wood initially ran into one disappointment after another.

Eventually, he raised his sights, literally, to the trees on his property. The rest is now history. He’s the king of Tree House mountain.

Mike owns more tree houses than anyone on the planet. And if you don’t think that’s a big deal, watch the video.

As I began watching the video for the first time myself, I knew right away I was going to feature it on VT just for the great treehouse story alone.

The first bullet quote that had me diving for a notebook was,

“I had to figure out how to make a living off the trees without cutting them down.”

I said to myself maybe we have the spirit of Will Rogers lurking is this old vet. But as I got further into it I saw a gleaming example of what a man looks like who is doing exactly what he wants to do.

The video was a gift from heaven because to use the term ‘looks like’ you have to be able see him and hear the story from the horse’s mouth. We should all be so lucky, and fortunately some of us are.

So tonight we have an adjusted version of VT Weekend Movies in the genre I have used already a few times, climbing into someone else’s shoes and life for a few minutes.

We had a lot of fun doing the one with the UFO Welcome Center in South Carolina. Jody Pendarvis and Mike are both characters, in different ways…but they share a sparkle in their eyes as they take you on their respective magical mystery tours, and never seem bored by it. Mike still serves Fantasy Flakes for breakfast and entertains his guests with his early mechanical psychedelic trip contraption.

But building his own world in the trees involved more than the money, labor and the heart to do it. Mike had to fight the local government for almost ten years before gaining the right to house guests in his nine treehouses. Josephine County building inspectors didn’t believe that it was structurally sound, so he gathered 66 people, two dogs and a cat (collectively weighing 10,847 pounds) in a single treehouse.

Despite this convincing neighborhood test the county demanded that he tear the treehouses down. Mike ignored them, and when they objected to him charging money to stay in the treehouses, Garnier then allowed visitors to stay for free, with the requirement that they buy a $75 t-shirt first.

The resulting legal battle lasted ten years, with Garnier attaching a steel cable zip line to his bedroom window in case of the need for a midnight escape. In 2001, the county relented and granted Garnier his building permits.

The old saying goes, “You can’t keep a good man down”, and that was literally the case  for brother Mike. Our thanks go out to the people that made the video. Print does not do this story justice. Multimedia was invented to serve the internet audience. I hope to be talking to Mike about doing some radio on our VT affiliates.

If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. And believe in what you are doing…Will Rogers

In 1974, fresh out of the army (as a Green Beret medic), Michael Garnier went to rural Oregon to try to make a living off the woods. He tried making furniture, fences, pole barns and selling organic, psychedelic picture propellers (to see Fantasy Flakes), but finally it was a treehouse that got him all the attention.

A chance for grownups to be kids again

Modeled after the treehouse he had once built for his kids, his first treehouse B&B was completed in 1990 and people began paying to stay…

…Today he has 9 treehouses for rent, 20 staircases, 5 or 6 bridges, several platforms and zip lines for rapid descent and at least one fireman’s pole. Some of his treehouses even have toilets, running water and showers, though he warns guests to “stand when they flush”.

Garnier claims to have the tallest treehouse in the world. His Treezebo stands 37 feet, or 6 stories, above the ground (He also claims that his personal home is the largest treehouse in the world).
