Former film star Brigitte Bardot, France’s iconic blonde bombshell and “sex kitten” who reigned supreme from 1952 – 1973, has been on trial five times for insulting Muslims and “inciting racial hatred.”

The prosecutor in her fifth trial, Anne de Fontette, wants a heftier fine and a tougher sentence: the equivalent of $24,000 and a two month (hopefully) suspended jail term.

What crimes has Bardot committed in the land without a First Amendment, in the land of Hate Speech laws that are being slickly exploited by non-persecuted Muslims?

An average of two attacks a day are recorded by forces across the country

The UK now has one of the highest number of recorded acid attacks per person of any country in the world, and the figure is expected to rise further, police have warned.

Senior officers believe the horrific crimes are not always being reported, meaning the unprecedented number of known assaults using corrosive substances may be a fraction of the true total.

More than 400 such attacks were recorded in the six months to April – an average of two a day.

A flight from New Zealand to Hawaii just achieved the impossible, going back in time… sort of.

Flightradar24 shared the time-defying flight path on social media on Sunday, showing Hawaiian Airlines flight HA446 taking off from Auckland, New Zealand, which already rang in the new year, and heading for Honolulu, Hawaii, where it will land in 2017.

“Time travel is possible!” Flightradar said. “Flight #HA446 just took off from New Zealand in 2018 and will land in Hawaii back in 2017!”

Two mass graves uncovered near the former terrorist stronghold of Raqqa became the final resting place for dozens of Syrians executed by ISIS. The effort to recover their remains is underway, with at least 115 bodies found so far.

After the liberation of the former capital of the self-styled Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) terrorist caliphate, two mass graves were discovered by returning civilians who then alerted the Syrian military of the gruesome find, Syria’s state SANA agency reported citing a field commander.

The Syrian army moved to verify the reports and confirmed the horrific claim. Corpses of dozens of soldiers and civilians were piled up under the sand. A civil defense team have been digging out the improvised graves to recover the remains.

America is experiencing one of the coldest weekends of the year as Niagara Falls has frozen over and sharks are freezing to death in the Atlantic.

The US is currently gripped by an arctic blast of air that has kept temperatures below freezing and brought record cold to some spots.

A huge swathe of the country is facing numbing cold as forecasters warn New Year’s revelers from Memphis to Maine to expect freezing conditions on Sunday.

As far south as Charleston, South Carolina, freezing rain coated the city’s landmark church steeples, while brutally cold weather has iced plans for scores of events in the Northeast from New Year’s Eve through New Year’s Day.

Authorities are warning revelers in New York City that it could be one of the coldest New Year’s Eve ball drops on record while in Boston the weather has cracked railway tracks, causing chaos for commuters.

German minister: Women do not go alone on New Year’s Eve, but in groups

Minister of the Interior Herbert Reul, of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has advised women to visit New Year’s Eve celebrations in groups.

North Rhine-Westphalia is the most populous state in Germany and Cologne is its largest city. During New Year’s Eve 2015 – 2016, at least 500 women were sexually assaulted in Cologne, by 1,400 mostly migrant men.

The 65-year-old CDU politician said about this year’s celebrations:

“I would say to my three daughters: If possible, do not go alone, but in groups… When it starts to get dangerous, you make a loud noise and if all this does not help, call the 110 as soon as possible – rather too much than too little.”

A church in a Swedish city has defended its choice of gender-neutral pronoun ‘hen’ in reference to Jesus in an advertisement. The church insists the word gives “new perspective.”

In November, the largest religious institution in the country, the Church of Sweden, advised its clergy to avoid terms like ‘Lord’ and ‘He’ in worship services in order to not highlight that God is male, in the new version of a handbook on how to conduct services. The move has triggered a backlash, with critics saying the change undermines the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity and politicizes faith.

Extremely cold, dangerous temperatures will continue across much of the United States and southern Canada into next week, with heavy wintry precipitation continuing across the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies into Saturday, December 30. This cold blast is both severe and unusually long, one of the sharpest New Year cold blasts on record. Numerous records were already broken and many new ones are expected before this ends.

Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills will continue across the Northern/Central Plains, Great Lakes, and Northeast into early next week, NWS warns. Heavy mountain snow and freezing rain in some lower elevations will lead to dangerous travel conditions into Saturday, December 30 across the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies. Meanwhile, heavy lake-effect snows are expected across the Great Lakes this weekend.

The dominating weather story as we head into the weekend continues to be the cold air mass persisting across much of the country east of the Rockies with afternoon high temperatures of 2.7 – 5.5 °C (5 to 10 °F) below normal, NWS said.

This is a classic example of flip-flop policy. In November, the US promised Turkey to stop arming Kurdish militias in Syria after the Islamic State was routed. Brett McGurk, the US Special Presidential Envoy to the Global Coalition to Defeat Islamic State, explained that after the urban fighting in Raqqa was over “adjustments in the level of military support” would be made. “We had to give some equipment – and it’s limited, extremely limited – all of which was very transparent to our NATO ally, Turkey,” he said during a special briefing on December 21. In June, the US told Turkey it would take back weapons supplied to the Kurdish the People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia in northern Syria after the defeat of Islamic State.

But sophisticated weapons will continue to be sent to Syria in 2018, including thousands of anti-tank rocket launchers, heat seeking missiles and rocket launchers. The list of weaponry and equipment was prepared by US Department of Defense as part of the 2018 defense budget and signed by Trump of Dec. 12. It includes more than 300 non-tactical vehicles, 60 nonstandard vehicles, and 30 earth-moving vehicles to assist with the construction of outposts or operations staging areas. The US defense spending bill for 2018 (“Justification for FY 2018 Overseas Contingency Operations / Counter-Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Train and Equip Fund”) includes providing weapons worth $393 million to US partners in Syria. Overall, $500 million, roughly $70 million more than last year, are to be spent on Syria Train and Equip requirements. The partners are the Kurds-dominated Syria Democratic Forces (SDF). The YPG – the group that is a major concern of Turkey – is the backbone of this force.
