LONDON: Stabbing near Kings Cross – Man knifed in neck fights for life as road is closed:

A STABBING by Kings Cross in London has closed major road York Way during rush hour as a man fights for his life, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

Metropolitan Police officers raced to the scene in Islington at 7.54am after receiving reports a man had sustained a knife wound to the neck.The victim has been transported to an East London Hospital, where his injuries are being treated as life-threatening.

A crime scene is in place following the incident, and no arrests have been made.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed enquiries are ongoing.

Traffic has been brought to a standstill in the area following the incident due to road blockages.

Diversions are in place both ways in the A5200 York Way area at Market Road.

Bus routes 274 and 390 are also affected.

Earlier this year the Office for National Statistics revealed knife crime in the city had risen over the past year by 24 per cent to 12,021 incidents – an increase of 2,327 incidents.

The increase – measured from March 2016-2017 – was part of a 10 per cent rise compared to the year beforehand.
