Netherlands Brought To A Virtual Standstill – Traffic Jams 600 Miles Long – KNMI issues Code Red warning

Traffic jams 600 miles long in the Netherlands:

11 Dec 2017 – Heavy snow brought the Netherlands to a virtual standstill today, with record traffic jams, train and flight cancellations and school closures.

In total, traffic jams totaling over 1,000 km (600 miles) were recorded at around 4:30 this afternoon.

Hundreds of flights were cancelled including ALL flights in and out of Eindhoven Airport.

The Dutch weather bureau KNMI issued a Code Red warning, its highest alert, warning of “extremely dangerous” conditions across the country.

Some areas were expecting up to 30 cm (12 inches) of snowfall within 24 hours.
