Smirking immigrant rapist who broke into his victim’s home at 2am and told her ‘I know you live alone’ during terrifying sexual assault was given a second chance to remain in Australia – despite 400 convictions over 30 years:

A rapist who broke into a Melbourne woman’s home at 2am and taunted her during a terrifying 45-minute sexual assault should have been deported to New Zealand four years ago.

In 2013, Carl Stafford had his deportation order overturned, despite having accumulated 400 convictions in 30 years. A tribunal ruling found ‘the Australian community’ had let him down, the Herald Sun reported.

On Wednesday, he was jailed for a maximum of ten years after he pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and one charge of aggravated burglary following the 2015 crime.
