The Public Prosecutor in the German city of Schwerin has opened an investigation against two men, aged 19 and 31, on the suspicion of raping and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in her own house. According to German newspaper ‘Schweriner Volkszeitung’, the two suspects are Turkish nationals.
German broadcaster NDR reports that the attack happened last night near the town of Wismar, in the far North of Germany. It is presumed that the girl, who reportedly was injured as a result of the assault, had previously met one of the men via a messenger app.
When the two showed up at the house, the young victim was home alone. The men then presumably pushed the teenager back inside where she was abused and raped.
When the girl’s mother returned, the perpetrators fled the scene. Police nevertheless managed to apprehend the suspected rapists shortly afterwards in a residence located in the Lübeck area. Tomorrow, on Sunday, the District Attorney will decide if the detention of the suspects will be prolonged.
In order to protect the injured child, the public prosecutor will for now not disclose further details about the case. ‘Schweriner Volkszeitung’ also reports that the local DA emphasised that the suspects do formally remain “innocent until proven guilty”.
