– Energy Dept Says PUMPKINS Cause Climate Change:
Millions of pounds of Halloween pumpkins end up in the trash, becoming part of the more than 254 million tons of municipal solid waste produced in the United States every year, says the Energy Dept website.
Municipal solid waste decomposes into methane, “a harmful greenhouse gas that plays a part in climate change, with more than 20 times the warming effect of carbon dioxide,” Energy says.
Energy then goes on to brag about how it is disbursing “federal investments” to various companies in order to “expand waste-to-energy opportunities.”
What’s that old adage about “follow the money”?
