Kyodo News, June 14, 2014: Tadao Mitome feels a duty to continue capturing images of the area to document the effects of the nuclear disaster […] Mitome, 75, published a photo book titled “3/11 Fukushima: Hibaku no Bokujo” (“Stock Farm Exposed to Radiation”), documenting a farm in the village of Iitate and its dying horses. “People should do whatever they are capable of doing,” Mitome said […] Iitate, about 40 km away from the wrecked power plant, [farmer Tokue Hosokawa] defied the central government’s order to evacuate. […] After nearly two years, horses became weak and died, one by one, from an unknown cause. Some horses in Fukushima were also put to death and sent away for autopsies. Mitome said he felt as though the eyes of the killed animals were trying to tell him that they would never let human beings forget about the nuclear disaster. […] “There are things that I must let people in the world know,” he said.

World Network For Saving Children From Radiation, Feb. 27, 2014: Mr. Hosokawa again lost three of his horses this summer. […] “Since then, three more horses have died. This village is reaching its end […] I don’t feel good”, he said.

Evacuee from Iitate: “University of Tohoku dissected the dead horses […] there were apparent abnormal results from the analysis of the blood […] 3 more horses have died here this summer. Hosokawa must be in shock […] I have demanded the Ministry of Environment to inform us of the results. But they keep saying, ‘we don’t know anything yet’ […] why can’t they at least publish the results so far? Surely there must be something wrong if they can’t publish.”

World Network For Saving Children From Radiation: “There is something seriously wrong going on” -Hosokawa […] According to him, horses have fallen ill one by one within these short weeks […] a white miniature horse, had the worst condition. Its skin was badly damaged. The veterinarian doctor who accompanied us saw it and indicated the symptoms of damaged liver […] It had jaundiced eyes. The doctor was wondering why its knees were so wobbly. […]  15 foals have been born since the beginning of this year, but 14 of them died within a month, sometimes within a week. “I have lived with horses since I was a kid, but I have never seen anything like this. It’s not normal. I think radiation is responsible for this”. Hosokawa stresses the effect of radiation as a cause. […] we asked a public health control centre to check the blood of the miniature horse. The results were negative for transmitted diseases or nutrient deficiency. […] We were overwhelmed by Hosokawa’s ghastly expression on his face and stunned with a shock by the grave situation, which was beyond our imagination. “This country is going mad, I‘m sure something grave is going to happen”.

  1. Depressing how bureaucratic obfuscation deemed necessary by seemingly representative democratically elected authority is dooming entire generations to a miserable demise.

The Government has *uck*d the entire country.

  2. To my friend, Squodgy: This isn’t taking generations, it is happening right now, it has been 39 MONTHS. We have no abalone, they are dead. We used to have their shells all around our house when I was a little girl……they were everywhere.
I don’t know if I have ever mentioned it here, but I make custom jewelry. I started out buying stores out of rocks and beads of high quality I really liked. One such product were hand made abalone beads. Some poor Chinese slave put them together by hand, they are exquisite. I bought all they got in their shop. Today, one bead like that is selling for $9-$12 apiece……..they are vanishing forever.
Our starfish are all dead. So are the sardines that fed so many other sea creatures. Salmon are yellow.
About two weeks ago, I was doing a quick scan of US media. Many stations were covering how exciting and wonderful it was that big sea creatures such as humpback whales, dolphins, sharks, ETC……not mentioning the fact they were a third of their normal weight because they are starving to death, that there were pus and other nasty things on their skin, and that they were inland to get oxygen and food. They have no other place to go, they are dying of hunger.
The oxygen lack is now being felt in most of the Pacific Ocean. I remember a guy (a few months ago) who took the sea journey to San Francisco from Fukushima each year. This year, it was 3000 miles (total trip is 5200 miles) before he saw any living ocean beings save one dolphin with a boil on his forehead.
Scientists has said it would be 2016 before things were felt in the US. From this man’s description, I did some rudimentary math, and figured it would be bad by the beginning of 2015. Turns out we were both totally wrong…..it is affecting us in CA now.
We have had prehistoric type creatures wash up, types we had never known existed. Fish with teeth, big monster size, beached and died. Horrible to look at, and even worse, nature’s vulture animals won’t touch them, they can smell the difference. So, they sit there and rot. There are no services to come and safely dispose of these creatures…….and they are radioactive.
We had 50 foot squid wash ashore, fall apart, like the starfish do, and fall back into the water. We never dreamed there were squid that large……….
Friend, it is happening now, not the next generation, but to us. There is a great movie I recommend you find and purchase or rent. It is called “On the Beach” 1959, with Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire, Anthony Perkins, and many more excellent stars. It is about a post nuclear war world, they are the only ones left alive. The government handed out pills to the people so they could go home and die peacefully in their own beds.
Governments of today don’t have that type of efficiency or decency. People will have to find their own way of self deliverance……nothing else will do. Radioactive death cooks one from the inside out, a truly dreadful death.
You might want to check how far you are from Fukushima, it might not affect you as quickly as it is doing us. We also have WA state and their nuclear waste disaster, NM and their leakage and waste problems……..we are getting it from all sides here in CA.
It was in our milk in less than two months. Cows eat grass, and plutonium got into it very quickly. It is in our soil, our water, fruits and vegetables. Now, our beef, pigs are diseased and poisoned. They don’t tell us when the animals first get sick, just after the producers get caught…….I stopped eating any animal, meat of any kind after Fukushima, but I know it is in the fruit, cheese and butter I consume.
There is no place to escape this disaster, and where I live, we are contending with three, Fukushima being the worst. Japan passed a law about 90 days ago making any criminal charges against TEPCO illegal. Who owns what in Japan, or the US?
These governments have *uc*d the entire world.

  3. Obama says he is “monitoring” it. I wonder if Mr brilliant could see his way to do something useful, like assist in saving the Pacific? I guess not. Compared to pushing islam down our throats, its not important.

  4. To Dad: He can monitor the Pacific all he likes……it is dying, and will soon be dead. We get 80% of our oxygen from the oceans, the Gulf of Mexico that feeds into the Pacific, is already dead thanks to BP Oil.
Corporate greed is literally killing us as you can read in my earlier post.
I am not happy with Obama, but have never seen him push any religion down anyone’s throat.
