[…] Koizumi said the Tokyo gubernatorial election will be a contest between pro- and anti-nuclear forces. “My belief is that Japan will be able to do without nuclear energy. Hosokawa also has the same belief. That is the biggest reason for my support of him,” he said. […] Koizumi told reporters, “I expressed my respects to Hosokawa from the heart. Wall St. Journal, Jan. 14, 2014: [Former Prime Ministers Hosokawa and Koizumi] are expected to stir up the gubernatorial race and bring the energy debate back into the national spotlight. That will likely dismay of the administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, which would rather not have the divisive issue become an election focal point. […] Mr. Hosokawa said […] “I have a sense of crisis that our nation’s survival is at stake over nuclear power.”

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe: “Candidates need to discuss not only the issue of nuclear energy but also other issues facing Tokyo properly, including preparations for the 2020 Olympics and a long list of children waiting to enroll in nursery schools.”

  1. Well, their lives are in peril, they definitely need a totally new government……chuck out the corporations like Tepco like the trash they are……..unfortunately, it is now too late, and Japan is doomed. Even worse, they have destroyed the food chain for the entire world.
    TEPCO executives, and the Japanese government ought to be hauled into the world court, and be punished. Send them to Fukushima to die, as millions will thanks to their greed.

  2. Their nation is dying, the radiation is so bad, Japan will not survive. This is why some of the big banks reneged on their real estate deals in Tokyo…..they knew two years ago Tokyo would be a wasteland…..so will all of Japan.
    Look at China. Where are the fat cats going? Sydney. Why? They are hoping the southern hemisphere will be safer for them than the northern…..
    Japan is doomed. There is nothing to save it.
