A California county has banned a veteran employee from criticizing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act because a coworker who overheard the criticism was offended.
The employee is Norina Mooney, who has logged some 20 years of work experience with Santa Clara County, the epicenter of Silicon Valley.
According to Mooney’s attorneys with the Pacific Justice Institute, she made some water-cooler talk with a fellow employee about the high number people who have had their insurance policies canceled under Obamacare.
Later, a supervisor called Mooney into a private meeting and allegedly dressed her down for the attempt at chitchat because an unidentified person had overheard the small talk and been offended.
In the future, the supervisor said, Mooney must exit the government building should she have anything adverse about Obamacare or otherwise political to say.
Mooney’s attorneys noted that this edict is an odd one considering Mooney’s claim that the office environment is replete with pro-Obama paraphernalia. She noted that her coworkers openly wore Obama campaign attire to work at election time as well.
The longtime employee currently works for the child support enforcement division, which doesn’t involve the promotion or implementation of the controversial heath insurance legislation.
Pacific Justice Institute president Brad Dacus noted the obvious, numerous concerns with the way Mooney was treated.
“Just when we thought the disastrous ObamaCare rollout couldn’t get much worse, the county of Santa Clara is compounding those problems by claiming that criticism is off-limits,” Dacus said. “Liberals and conservatives alike should be able to agree that this type of censorship is chilling and unconstitutional.”
Mooney’s attorneys have sent a letter to Santa Clara County officials demanding answers and seeking an affirmation of public employees’ rights to comment on matters of public concern. Several weeks have passed with no response.
They are now contemplating legal action.

Political correctness was played on the Germans as Hitler rose to power. It is insidious, and this story is but one example of many. Why doesn’t US media cover any stories of relevance? Look at what happened to Dylan Ratigan and Martin Bashir among others; they vanish, and are never heard from again.
I cannot bear to watch US media. My education was in history with an emphasis on the art and science of propaganda. In logic class, we even learned the proper model of successful propaganda………which has been around for thousands of years. Read Julius Caesar’s “The Conquest of Gaul”…….an excellent example.
This nation is quickly becoming a fascist state with totalitarian goals. It will not succeed, there are too many other factors that will change the plans of millions. One is climate change, rising sea levels, etc. Another is the radioactive fallout from Fukushima, it has destroyed the food chain, plutonium is found in all the large, predator mammals…….about two thirds of the Pacific is already dead.
Mankind had solved the food problem by 1750…..we produced enough food to feed our people through advances in farming, preservation and the like. Now, we cannot eat fish or anything from the oceans. That includes birds, they have been eating from the sea for thousands of years.
Plutonium was found in our milk supply within 30 days of Fukushima. We can no longer safely eat beef.
So, no fish, chicken, frog legs, beef or shell fish.
All the crab here on the Sonoma county coast is dead…..they are attributing it to climate change.
Even more disturbing is the fact much of our oxygen comes from the oceans. If they are dead, so are we
All of these factors will change everyone……wait until the greedy guts find out this includes them. Gates and guards cannot protect anyone from radioactive air, water, grain or food.
I find it incredible world leaders sit by and say nothing as Japan continues to allow TEPCO to pour over a thousand tons of radioactive water into the Pacific. Fools in the US side with them……..
The world has gone mad. It is likely we are going to see first hand why civilizations vanish overnight. Were it not for the Irish Monks, all the early history of Rome would be lost forever.
