Japanese Government Ordered Geiger Counters Manipulated To Display Lower Than Actual Radiation Levels

– Ministry of Education orders false dosimeters (Fukushima Diary, Nov. 27, 2011):

Since 311, Japanese government pretended to check radiation level of various areas in Japan, but because they measure radiation at 14 m or 85 m high from the ground, nobody got to believe the data.

They therefore ordered 600 dosimeters from a Geiger counter maker named Alpha Tsushin.

Those dosimeters were supposed to be put at schools in Fukushima etc..

However, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology stated they cancelled the contract on 11/18/2011 because “their dosimeter is not accurate and they can’t make 600 of the dosimeters by the deadline.”

However, according to the explanation of Alpha Tsushin, it was because the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology wanted false dosimeter.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology was afraid to show higher radiation levels than the monitoring posts set on 14 m or 85 m high from the ground, so they ordered Alpha Tsushin to make geiger counters to indicate lower radiation level than actual.

Alpha Tsushin uses parts from America, which are manufactured using international standards, but the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology tried to force the engineers to use the “Japanese standard”.

As a result, Alpha Tsushin was cancelled, luckily for them.

The company is planning to have a press conference to tell the truth.

For a bank that everyone is bashing for “doing nothing” the ECB sure continues not only to be active in the open market but monetize well more than the Fed: in the past week the ECB’s SMP program announced it purchased €8.581 billion in PIIGS bonds in the open market, which brings total notional purchases to €209.1 billion over the life of the program since inception on May 14, 2010. However, due to interim maturities, about €5.5 billion have matured from the total holdings, which means that on a net basis, total purchases have only now passed €200 billion for the first time, and are now at EUR 203.5 billion. More importantly, since the resumption of the SMP program in August, the ECB has bought €131 billion in PIIGS bonds, or about $176 billion. This works out to just under $60 billion per month (and no, it is not sterilized when the sterilizing banks exist solely courtesy to ECB funding as noted before) and is just modestly less than what the Fed monetized on a monthly basis at its peak QE, and about 30% more than what the Fed does now during Operation Twist! ($45 billion monthly at last check) So… Who was it that said the ECB needs to print more?

CARACAS – Amid wild celebrations, a first shipment of gold bars arrived home in Venezuela on Friday after President Hugo Chavez ordered almost all the country’s foreign bullion reserves be repatriated from Western banks.

Excited crowds lined the roadside waving big Venezuelan flags and chanting “It’s returned! It’s returned!” as a convoy of soldiers and armored cars carried the ingots from Maiquetia airport to the central bank in Caracas.

Experts had cautioned that the operation, which will eventually transport more than 160 tonnes of gold bars worth more than $11 billion to the South American country, would be risky, slow and expensive.

Nelson Merentes, the president of the central bank, traveled into the city at the head of the convoy. He did not say how much gold was brought back in Friday’s shipment but said the bullion came from several European countries.

“Our gold is being stored in the vaults,” Merentes, sporting a baseball cap that read “The Central Bank of Venezuela with the People,” told the cheering crowds.

Opening fire on American troops could mean an instant death sentence for insurgents, if an ambitious new Air Force plan works out. The flying branch has asked industry to develop a new heat and motion sensor capable of detecting enemy gunfire from 25,000 feet over the battlefield — and then swiftly directing a bomb or missile onto the shooter.

Installed on the Air Force’s existing fleet of Reaper drones, the gunfire-detection system would make attacking U.S. troops a highly risky proposition. The Air Force wants to link the fire-detector with other Wide Field-of-View (WFOV) sensors like the Gorgon Stare, which uses a bundle of cameras to watch over miles at a time. The sensors entered service on Reapers this year. “The goal of this effort is to provide an event (enemy and friendly weapons fire) detection system that can provide real-time notification that can be overlaid on WFOV motion imagery by sensor operators,” the Air Force solicitation reads.

Monsanto Partners With USAID To Push GM Corn In Nepal

The southeast Asian country of Nepal is once again having to fight against foreign interests that are trying to take over its agricultural system. Biotechnology giant Monsanto apparently has its sights set on bringing genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) to this sliver of a country just north of India, and it is allegedly working with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a so-called humanitarian group, and officials in Nepal to make it happen.

USAID issued a statement on Sept. 13, 2011, saying that it had partnered with Nepal’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MoACs) and Monsanto to “promote hybrid maize (corn) seeds among 20,000 farmers of Chitwan, Nawalparasi and Kavre districts and provide training to them.” Media across Nepal quickly picked up on the story, and massive public outcry ensued.

If you’re a parent seeking reassurance, don’t look to Sunday Mainichi magazine, which last week pointedly demanded, “Are children’s school lunches really safe?” Chiba Prefecture in October initiated daily testing, and two weeks later detected radioactive cesium — 350 becquerels — in shiitake mushrooms. Echoing Takarajima’s housewife, the mother of a second-grader says, “How much radiation would my child have consumed? I can’t help wondering, and it sends shivers up my spine.”

Surveying the issue from Tohoku to Tokyo, Sunday Mainichi finds no more than 20 percent of municipalities testing school lunches for radiation. Tokyo’s 23 wards are relatively solid in that regard (42 percent of Tokyo’s municipalities test), but the Tohoku region, the heart of the crisis, seems astonishingly lax (Fukushima 10 percent, Miyagi 8 percent). “It’s like Russian roulette,” said the mother of a Chiba Prefecture first-grader.

“To be honest, we could have done better,” admits a Fukushima City official. “Until summer the city didn’t even know that testing equipment was available.”

If radiation were less spectral — if you could see it, smell it, touch it — its presence might be easier to cope with.

‘Easier to cope with’? If radiation would be made visible as blood red spots covering Japan (Everywhere!) the people would have panicked and fled a long time ago.

And make no mistake even if radiation levels in food are below the ‘radiation safety limit’ it is everything but safe!

Radioactive substances from the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant have now been confirmed in all prefectures, including Uruma, Okinawa Prefecture, about 1,700 kilometers from the plant, according to the science ministry.

The ministry said it concluded the radioactive substances came from the stricken nuclear plant because, in all cases, they contained cesium-134, which has short half-life of two years.

Before the March 11 Great East Japan Earthquake, radioactive substance were barely detectable in most areas.

But the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s survey results released on Nov. 25 showed that fallout from the Fukushima plant has spread across Japan. The survey covered the cumulative densities of radioactive substances in dust that fell into receptacles during the four months from March through June.

On November 25, two days after a failed German government bond auction in which Germany was unable to sell 35% of its offerings of 10-year bonds, the German finance minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble said that Germany might retreat from its demands that the private banks that hold the troubled sovereign debt from Greece, Italy, and Spain must accept part of the cost of their bailout by writing off some of the debt. The private banks want to avoid any losses either by forcing the Greek, Italian, and Spanish governments to make good on the bonds by imposing extreme austerity on their citizens, or by having the European Central Bank print euros with which to buy the sovereign debt from the private banks. Printing money to make good on debt is contrary to the ECB’s charter and especially frightens Germans, because of the Weimar experience with hyperinflation.

Obviously, the German government got the message from the orchestrated failed bond auction. As I wrote at the time, there is no reason for Germany, with its relatively low debt to GDP ratio compared to the troubled countries, not to be able to sell its bonds.

If Germany’s creditworthiness is in doubt, how can Germany be expected to bail out other countries? Evidence that Germany’s failed bond auction was orchestrated is provided by troubled Italy’s successful bond auction two days later.

Strange, isn’t it. Italy, the largest EU country that requires a bailout of its debt, can still sell its bonds, but Germany, which requires no bailout and which is expected to bear a disproportionate cost of Italy’s, Greece’s and Spain’s bailout, could not sell its bonds.

In my opinion, the failed German bond auction was orchestrated by the US Treasury, by the European Central Bank and EU authorities, and by the private banks that own the troubled sovereign debt.

A group of scientists has developed the robot warders under a one billion won (£546,000) project organised by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.

They can connect prisoners with officers through a remote conversation function, according to a statement from the Asian Forum for Corrections (AFC), a South Korea-based group of researchers in criminality and prison policies.

The European desperation is palpable ahead of the EURUSD open in a few hours, which has to deal with the aftermath of the Friday afternoon downgrade of Belgium, the junking of Portugal and Hungary, and the prospect of an imminent downgrade of AAA-stalwarts Austria and France. So what does Europe do instead of actually proposing the inevitable debt repudiation that is the only and final outcome? Why more rumors of course. To wit: last night saw the preannouncement of Welt am Sonntag indicating that in order to bypass the lengthy process of treaty changes, Europe would instead proceed with bilateral agreements that would somehow enforce fiscal stability and convince the market that European states would follow the German leader. Well since that is sure to have absolutely no impact, overnight Italian La Stampa is out with a fresh new rumor which cites “IMF sources” according to which the US-headquartered and funded organization would provide a €600 billion loan to Italy at 4-5%. In other words, Uncle Sam, in his role as primary funding agent of the IMF would lose massive amount of money on the “market to fair value” arbitrage, only to bail out the latest European domino. As a reminder, the whole “under market rates” loan from the IMF was implemented in Greece and worked out just swell: at last check the 1 Year Greek bond was trading with a yield of over 300%. Oh, and La Stampa forgot to mention one thing: any changes to the IMF, which currently is massively underfunded and is why the organization was forced to create two new liquidity facilities: a Precautionary and Liquidity Credit line, since it is unable to fund its New Arrangements to Borrow, have to go through US Congress when it comes to expanding funding capacity. Yup, the most dysfunctional, corrupt and criminal thing in the world – the US House of Representatives, where unless everyone is short Italian CDS, this will never pass. In other words: this rumor is dead in the water.

After Fox News’ Megyn Kelly mocked victims of a pepper-spray assault on the air this week (again), supporters of the students that suffered the attack challenged the conservative correspondent to find out first-hand what it’s like to be maced.

As of Friday morning, nearly 40,000 people have gotten behind that cause.

On Monday, Kelly told fellow Fox host Bill O’Reilly that pepper spray was “essentially” just a food product and that the hubbub over a University of California at Davis cop that fired the condiment (essentially) onto the faces of peacefully protesting students was unwarranted.

“I don’t know if from a legal standpoint the cops did anything wrong,” Kelly said, while at the same time admitting that Lt John Pike’s now infamous assault was still kind of “abrasive and intrusive.” The footage of the campus cop firing the dangerous chemical onto students that sat quietly at UC Davis spawned an Internet meme, international outrage and eventually administrative leave for the officer. Opponents of Kelly aren’t asking exactly the same for her, but they do think that she should see how tasty that food product can really be.

“To back up your claim that pepper spray is a food product, please consume as much of it as was sprayed on each protestor’s face, in one sitting, on camera at Fox News,” Nick Douglas of New York City wrote on a petition he created on the Change.org website. “You may mix the spray with one serving of food or drink, as I am not a sadist. Then, please relate the effects to your audience.”

Since creating the petition earlier this week, over 37,000 signatures have been added; Douglas is aiming for 50,000 and it doesn’t look that too far off.

On November 23rd, Eric Sprott of Eric Sprott Asset Management, filed a prospectus to purchase $1.5 billion dollars worth of physical silver bullion to accomodate a new exchange traded fund, the PSLV.

Canadian-based Eric Sprott Asset Management CEO Eric Sprott filed a follow up prospectus for the purchase of an additional $1.5 billion of silver bullion to cover expected demand for the company’s exchange traded fund, PSLV.

Combined with the recent decline in the PSLV premium to spot silver to 14 percent from the typical 20 percent, along with Sprott’s reported sale of some of its holdings of PSLV at the rich premium, it appears a familiar hallmark of a gigantic $580 million silver bullion purchase in December of last year emerges once again.  Since demand for silver products at Sprott remain brisk, it should come as no surprise to the silver world that Sprott needs more silver. – profitimes.com

The ramifications of a $1.5 billion dollar purchase of physical silver could lead to a massive rise in the price of the metal over the near and middle terms.  According to Harvey Organ’s recent inventory report, the total number of silver ounces outstanding with the Comex is 1,485,000.  At the current futures price of $31.99, the value of that outstanding silver is $47,505,150.

Parents who do not have their children fully immunised will be stripped of family tax benefits under a scheme announced by the Federal Government.

The Government says 11 per cent of five-year-olds are not immunised and has announced a shake-up of the system which will take effect from July 1 next year.

Under the changes, families who refuse vaccinations face losing up to $2,100 per child in benefits.

Families will need to have their children fully immunised to receive the Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A end-of-year supplement.

It never fails.  Every Black Friday we get yet another heaping helping of pure unadulterated ignorant mentally deficient bottom feeding fat-saturated sheeple mania.  Every year it gets worse.  And, every holiday season I am faced with the painful question of whether or not these people are actually worth saving.  My answer so far has always been a begrudging “yes”.  Many of them have been conditioned by a society on the brink of collapse, not just of economy, but also of conscience.  That doesn’t mean, however, that I excuse this kind of behavior.  Frankly, if some mongoloid Wal-Mart shopper tried to pepper spray me in the face for a video game, I would beat them into cranberry sauce and drink some delicious eggnog to celebrate.  Is this a well balanced response?  Probably not.  But then again, they would likely think twice before pulling the same stunt on anyone else.  Actually, in my humble opinion, at least half the population of this country needs a good a smack upside the head.  Seriously……this situation is getting uncomfortably crooked…….

Imagine how these same people might act in the event that they not only get no Xbox, but no food due to financial instability. Imagine a 200 pound spoiled toddler with an addiction to immediate gratification being told “you are owed nothing”.  The response would probably be similar to (or even worse than) a large portion of the American populace as featured in the videos below:

ISLAMABAD — The Pakistani government has demanded the U.S. vacate an air base within 15 days that the CIA is suspected of using for unmanned drones.

The government issued the demand Saturday after NATO helicopters and jet fighters allegedly attacked two Pakistan army posts along the Afghan border, killing 24 Pakistani soldiers.

Islamabad outlined the demand in a statement it sent to reporters following an emergency defense committee meeting chaired by Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Shamsi Air Base is located in southwestern Baluchistan province. The U.S. is suspected of using the facility in the past to launch armed drones and observation aircraft to keep pressure on Taliban and al-Qaida militants in Pakistan’s tribal region.

So far, they finished checking 864 bags of rice and 131 (15%) of them turned out to exceed their emergency safety limit of 500 Bq/Kg.

The champion contained 1,270 Bq/kg.

27 of other bags contained over 1,000 Bq/kg too.

On November 23rd. Olivier Sarkozy, brother of French President Nicholas Sarkozy, and head of the Carlyle Financial Group, spoke on CNBC and laid out the cost of the liquidity crisis that is overtaking Europe.  The total numbers are staggering, with $30 Trillion being the overall debt holding the Euro Zone hostage.

So if you want to stabilize that $30 trillion and in my view it’s not that you want to, it’s that you have to, you do not have a choice, you’re going to have to be at least at 2.1 trillion and i suspect it may need to be more.” Q.E.D. – Sarkozy on CNBC via Zerohedge

$30 trillion is the overall exposure, however, only a percentage of this is necessary to stabilize those debt instruments.  This is where the figure of $2.1 trillion comes in, and is a gigantic requirement nonetheless to secure the overall liability in the Euro banking system.

– Egyptian military using ‘more dangerous’ teargas on Tahrir Square protesters (Guardian, Nov. 23, 2011):

Egyptian security forces are believed to be using a powerful incapacitating gas against civilian protesters in Tahrir Square following multiple cases of unconsciousness and epileptic-like convulsions among those exposed.

The Guardian has collected video footage as well as witness accounts from doctors and victims who have offered strong evidence that at least two other crowd control gases have been used on demonstrators in addition to CS gas.

Suspicion has fallen on two other agents: CN gas, which was the crowd control gas used by the US before CS was brought into use; and CR gas.

Some protesters report having seen canisters marked with the letters “CR” – although the Guardian has not been able to confirm this independently.

Both gases can be more dangerous than CS and can cause unconsciousness and seizures in certain circumstances.

Concern began to emerge over the use of more powerful incapacitating agents after reports of gassed protesters falling unconscious and having attacks of jerking spasms.

50 More Locations In Tokyo Over Radiation Limit

– 50 locations exceeded mandatory decontamination limit in Arakawaku (Fukushima Diary, Nov. 25, 2011):

Having measured 6.46 micro Sv/h at Shioiri elementary school in Arakawaku Tokyo, the ward government measured all the elementary schools, kindergarten, and nursery schools.

As a result, 50 of 82 locations turned out to be contaminated worse than 0.23 micro Sv/h, which is the “decontamination limit”.

Details are:

  • 10 kindergarten
  • 13 nursery school
  • 16 elementary school
  • 10 junior highschool
  • 1 Korean school

6 of elementary schools and junior schools were contaminated worse than 1.0 micro Sv/h.

Arakawa ward government banned going into those areas and started decontamination, such as high-pressure washing, changing the soil or cover the ground with concrete.

However, some people criticizes decontamination is useless because high-pressure washing only scatters around radioactive particles, and the water is contaminated itself etc..

Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) has taken a few hits over the years in technology circles. The Democratic Party’s nominee for VP in 2000 is most recently remembered for having proposed an “internet kill switch.” Well, that wasn’t exactly what he proposed at all, but it didn’t earn him any fans in the tech community, that’s for sure.

Well, Joe’s at it again, and this time, it really is as embarrassing as it sounds. The Senator has taken pen to paper and written a letter to Google asking that its blogging platform Blogger be equipped with a flagging feature… for terrorists. This is largely because Jose Pimental, a man suspected of attempting to build a pipe bomb to attack the US military hosted his blog on Blogger. Now, there are a lot of terrible Blogger blogs to be sure, but is this really the best way to deal with such a problem?

Talking Points Memo acquired the letter and published it earlier today. “Pimentel’s Internet activity — both his spreading of bomb-making instructions links and his hate-filled writings — were hosted by Google” writes Lieberman, going on to add that, unlike YouTube, “Blogger’s Content Policy does not expressly ban terrorist content nor does it provide a ‘flag’ feature for such content.”

Google has not yet responded to Senator Lieberman’s request for the Blogger kill switch.
